The Isolated Politics Blurt Thread I: A New Beginning

while i wish the senate had been won by dems, the sort of status-quo we've been left with can mean 2 things:

either we go back to not getting anything much done

or

(with the possibility of more senate seats to be turned in run-offs) things being so evenly weighted makes for great opportunities to get people working together to find and attain shared goals that improve people's lives.

if both sides realise they'll never get anything done unless they work together, just maybe... the results? for now, no radical changes but small, incremental steps towards an improvement for all americans. sure the far right and far left will never be satisfied with that, but there are a whole lot more middle-grounders

This may be the best meme I've ever seen.

For once I would like the media to ask "Why couldn't Trump seal the deal?" Rather than always focusing on "Why didn't the Democrats win bigger?"

Why did the Republicans lose the Presidency? Why is that not being asked? Why aren't they asked to move to the left?

It's almost as if Repugs are cast as the 'default' and Democrat are the 'insurgents' with these media types.

Why can't Trump go back to the White House?

Because it's for-Biden.

Turns out the star of the Four Season’s Landscaping press conference has quite the past. 🙊

Housing Dept just issued a press release stating Secretary Ben Carson, MD has COVID-19.

Thoughts and prayers, folks.

Esper fired, Jim Bridenstein at NASA just resigned.

Bridenstine is a former GOP Congressman. I guess his resignation is just an acknowledgement that Biden is going to want his own guy in there, though it's noteworthy that this is a top administration official who isn't buying the "it's fraud and Trump really won" silliness. At some point all these people will need to stop placating the idiot boss and begin thinking about their futures.

So I guess Mitch is actually going to go with, "The races that Republicans won, including mine, were all conducted honestly, but only the race for president is shady?"

In all seriousness, it's kind of a problem for democracy when one party won't agree to the validity of any election they happen to lose.

Final tallies now in:

  • In RED states, hard liquor sales on Election day were 54% higher than average
  • In BLUE states, hard liquor sales on Election day were up a massive 75% higher than average

Your feelings are extremely important to me, person wearing a pro-Trump T-shirt that says “(EXPLETIVE) Your Feelings.” It is up to me to understand you, and I will be happy to start on that as soon as you’re done composing an email that calls me “the enemy of the people” and shouting “FAKE NEWS!” while trying to intimidate my colleagues.

Take your time. I’ll wait. This is entirely my responsibility, and any suggestion that Biden winning by 5 million votes suggests otherwise is absurd.

I feel bad that I caused you to hate me. Totally my fault. And I don’t want you to feel like you need to do a single thing to better understand me.

After the 2016 election, when Trump lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million but still won the Electoral College, we were told it was the duty of all liberals to better understand the forgotten men and women who supported Trump.

Now, four years later, the 75.5 million Americans who rejected Donald Trump must again step forward and work to better understand the majority 71 million Americans who embraced him.

Because that’s how math, and the rules of Republican fairness, works.
