Endless Ends

Mark of the Vampire, you ask?

TWIST! There was one. And it was EPIC.

Completely unexpected, but once it happened it nudged a faint memory. I do believe I had seen it before. Many moons ago, perhaps as a sprout, otherwise I would have remembered the title.

Casting Bela Lugosi as the vamp? Genius!

Bat thorn. :p

Well worth the watch. I’ll be adding it to my once-a-year-list. A new favorite. Yo.

* * *

Shadow of the Vampire rounded out yesterday's horror fest.

Big John Malkovich fan. Strange (and vaguely creepy) dude, but wonderful actor.

Unique movie. I would love to know what sparked the idea. Lovely photography, interesting character development. Might be just a tad slow. Or something. Absolutely worth the view, but not necessarily something I would watch over and over.

William Dafoe killed it, btw.

(As an aside, I just don't get the concept of metafiction.)

Trekka!!!

*poooooounce*

I do believe I owe you an email. Things have been...happening.

Thank you for coming out of your cave! What kinda cave we talking?

-Crystal cave?
-Watery cave?
-Sleepy-time cave?

I feel like we need more information….

Oh! Oh! Oh!

NONCONSENTUAL CAVE?

*faints with hope*

The Thing From Another World (1951).

Not exactly one I haven’t seen, but what can I say, it’s digitally remastered! :cattail:

Besides, it and it’s 1982 companion are one of the best horror duos ever made, in my opinion. Both different. Both spectacular. One day I should watch the 2011 remake/version, but…I just know in my little heart it’s not going to be up to snuff. Makes it hard to work up enthusiasm.

* * *

Next up, settling in to watch Moose (2015).

Yeah, yeah, I know, but bear with me here:

-A city named Gangrene Falls
-A destination spot for mimes
-A violent narcoleptic
-A waiter, fry cook, and coroner that are….wait for it….puppets

Could it be be more cheeseball? Could it be more lowbrow?

I think not.

*settles in to see if it lives up to potential*

Ooooh. That^^^ looks right up my alley! :cattail:

*puts mole people on the list*

* * *

As far as Moose? Eh. Not as funny as hoped. Possibly due to the straight guy being a TERRIBLE actor.

That would be straight as in foil for the funny people, not straight as in an otherwise gay cast. You know, in case anyone was wondering. :p

Some of the funny characters had their amusing moments. Probably wouldn't bother to watch again.

A laid back shaman. That's dead on actually!

WB, Enny

NRJ!

With just the slightest hippie vibe, too.

I'm picturing long robe.

I'm picturing sunglasses.

I'm picturing hippie love beads.

That would be the laid back part. Yo.

The Babadook (2014).

Hmmm. I am on the fence about this one. Enough so that I may watch it again. Really love Essie Davis, though. She is pure awesomeness in the Phryne Fischer Mysteries. :cattail:

Enny! It’s great to see you back.

The Two The Thing movies are great and compliment each other perfectly. I didn’t like the remake/prequel that much. But also the short story both movies are based on is equally good. I always site these as one of the very few times where the book, the movie and the remake are all completely fantastic.

And now I have to see Moose! :D

Conan!

:p

Oddly, I've never read Who Goes There?. I do believe there might be a copy knocking about somewhere, though….

Eh. that's what I figured o the prequel. I just…don't want to ruin my palate.

Moose! I forgot to say there are several little Easter eggs. Think Star Trek red shirt. The twins are quite amusing, as are the tow truck/ambulance guys. Seriously, it was just that lead actor!

I shall expect a report back. :D

Thank you! :)

Do you like horror movies? Thread admittance is a movie suggestion.

Totally, totally kidding! :p

Nice to see you, too. I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. :rose:

I'm no horror expert, but I truly loved the Nightmare on Elm street movies. Mainly the first two though. Now if you don't mind me going back a ways, I did love the movie "Ghost Story". It's listed as drama/horror.

I LOVED GHOST STORY.

Supernatural, gothic-y, roots in the part. What's not to love?

I have never seen any of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. And…honestly….I'm not sure why that is.

Oh. My. God.

The original, uncut manuscript precursor to Who Goes There? was found in 2018. Frozen Hell. Novel Length, and with an entirely different beginning than WGT?!

There followed an explosive Kickstarter to print. Now available in ebook or print.

AND

There've been 4 movies based on the novella. The 3 discussed and a Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee vehicle called Horror Express.

(I've seen it, and it is awesome, but I had no idea of the source material.)

AND

*hopes everyone is sitting down*

A fifth movie is in play as of Jan. 20. Involving JOHN CARPENTER and based on the expanded version (Frozen Hell).

I now require a nap.

Seriously.

That's about all the excitement I can handle for the week. :p

And . . . you lost me, lol. Guess I'll have to look into it though.

Enjoy your nap  (I know what "Nap" is code for :))

Horror Express (1972).

Check.

AND

There is a 2nd Kickstarter for the Who Goes There? tabletop game!

Okay. That's all. I will quit torturing people with useless information surrounding one 80 year old novella.

(I am not even a gamer. :p)

Interesting^.

One I had not seen before and a little different than the usual 1950's offering. Worth a watch. I dug the *actual event* footage in the climbing scenes.

I am a teensy bit confused on the events in the last thirty seconds. I mean, why?
