Lots of talk and bellyaching, but no sound reasoning.

It's been adjusted several times for different reasons, some of them stated to limit powers of someone or another.
"As the nation's boundaries grew, Congress added justices to correspond with the growing number of judicial circuits: seven in 1807, nine in 1837, and ten in 1863."
Given the increase in population and the number of legal issues, it would make sense to increase to 13, the current number of Appellate Circuits.
But I have a bigger issue of Judges being selected and nominated based on their partisan views. I feel the courts should be solidly non-partisan with their Oath Of Office affirming that.
I also have a major issue with the notion of Lifetime Appointments. That's something that needs to be addressed.
