What it means that coronavirus is airborne

The Centers for Disease Control revised its Covid-19 guidelines on Monday to include that the novel coronavirus can be spread through aerosols, which “can linger in the air for minutes to hours” and travel farther than six feet.

Until now it was understood that the coronavirus is spread is through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, sings, talks or breathes, and experts still believe that is the main way it is spread. But now experts also agree that airborne transmission is a key piece of the Covid-19 puzzle.

“I believe pretty confidently that there is some element [of airborne transmission],” White House advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said Wednesday.

we're all doomed:

The coronavirus can survive on skin for this many hours, study suggests

New research out of Japan suggests the novel coronavirus can live on human skin for 9 hours.Â...

Which is not news to any other country. Even the Chinese admitted that a long time ago.

That is why most countries in the world have been wearing masks compulsorily or voluntarily for weeks if not months but not Americans because it is an infringement on their liberties...

And it you are young it doesn't mean shit. If you are middle-aged and healthy it doesn't mean shit. If you are in your 60s and healthy it doesn't mean shit.
If you are in your 70s and healthy it doesn't mean shit.
The virus kills old people and people who are already sick. Nothing else about it is new.

Thinks it's ok for the elderly and the infirm to die.

Hmmm.... Now where have I heard that before???

Have you even bothered to look at the statistics? The answer is obviously "no."
About three times as many teenagers have died of pneumonia than of the virus this year, and the number of pneumonia deaths is below 100.
Seriously. But ignorance is not bliss.
I don't have the stats in front of me, but roughly 85 percent of the deaths are of people 65 and over, and 92 percent are 70 and over.
Seriously.
The remainder, almost without exception, had underlying medical conditions. That's why people even as old as Trump have a 95-plus percent chance of surviving if they are otherwise healthy.

What it means is face diapers are worthless. If Mamma wants to smite you down, so be it. No silly rag over your nose will help.

Only an idiot would draw that conclusion from my post.
Hmmm.

Actually, I could be considered "elderly," though I like to think of it is retired and healthy with a comfortable income. I think the masks are a silly waste of time if you are healthy but I wear them when required. I wash my hands frequently and follow other guidelines.
I think people who are elderly or who have underlying medical conditions should take precautions.
I think the rest of us should go ahead and live our lives as normally as possible.

You said the following: If you are in your 70s and healthy it doesn't mean shit.

I am saying false. There have been cases where “healthy, young people” have died.
Did I state a huge number? NO I did not.

OldUrinal doesn't recognize how many people in the U.S. have comorbidities or what a human vector is.

SAD!!!

Furthermore, we know this is leaving an infection in the heart membrane in over 30% of asymptotic covid individuals. We also know, if you have this infection once...you are susceptible to it again. And we also know people die from this infection every single day. Ten years from now...when you get sick...you now have a greater chance of dying than you did one year ago. This is a fact.

Well, FUCKING DUH!

I figured this out last Febuary!

Here is what my work thinks.

Sanitized for MY protection.;)

U.S. Team,

The threat of COVID-19 continues to rise with 2.5M+ active cases in the U.S. today, up more than 200K since our last time we updated. While there have been some improvements in previous hotspots, the broader situation around schooling and the general outlook ahead of flu season remain dynamic.

As such, we are maintaining our more cautious approach and extending current work arrangements through at least Jan. 4, 2021. Continue to seek approval from your manager on any exceptions, and continue to follow prevention guidance to protect yourself and others.

We recognize that many of you are looking for clarity on what the future holds and the process and timing for returning to more normalcy. While we don’t have all of the answers today, below are more insights on the situation and our approach.

U.S. Situation

· Despite efforts to stop the spread, 268 of our co-workers in the U.S. have contracted COVID-19 to date.

· More than 50 U.S. employees contracted COVID-19 since our last update, and most were contracted outside the workplace.

· Most schools are maintaining a hybrid model today, and the broader impact of schooling is yet to be determined.

· In addition, the medical community forecasts the potential for a rise in flu and COVID-19 cases, coining it as the “Twindemic” that could have severe and lasting impacts on society.

Where we stand

· The situation remains highly fluid and prevention remains the main method to stop the spread of the virus.

· Added safety measures at our facilities today require fewer people to be onsite to effectively manage risk.

· We know that many of you are continuing to adjust your routines to adapt in this environment and that you want advanced notice of any changes to the current approach.

· We have also heard your feedback from recent surveys requesting more flexibility to manage work and life priorities through the pandemic and beyond.

· At the same time, we recognize that there are benefits to in-person collaboration, which you feel are missing today.

What’s next

· We are working on additional flexible work options with HR. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.

· In addition, we are exploring opportunities to rethink our physical workspace to support in-person collaboration and address longer-term safety risks.

· Looking forward, the decision to increase the number of people at our facilities will be based on the overall risk profile, case counts, and business need. When that time comes, we would start with a smaller percentage of the workforce determined by role and site capacity requirements.

· Any changes to our current approach will be communicated in advance so you can plan accordingly.

We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and will reassess our approach early next year. Our top priority remains protecting the health and safety of our teams, while maintaining our operations and supporting our customers. Here, let me help.

In ten years you will have a FAR greater chance of dying than you WOULD have if you hadn't contracted Covid.

b-b-b-but face diapers makes him look uncool and lowers his Q rating amongst the goils and stuff!

This shit is not that fucking confusing!

Jesus, wear a fucking mask, young people can spread to old people who die, and for fuck sake, young people die! It's a virus, not some conspiracy to keep the followers at bay.

This really isn't that fucking hard.

No Mask Muthafuckas!!!

No damn mask!!!

They ain't a gonna help.

I'm convinced that the reason all of these anti-maskers are so adamant about not wearing one is because they all have the rankest, most sewer like halitosis imaginable and they cannot stand to be locked into their own stench without passing out.

A natural anti-viral for Sars-CoV-2, as it were.

That helps the "face diaper" bon mot butchery make sense. People with bad hygiene are usually selfish inconsiderate assholes to begin with, with stank shit breath they could do something about if they actually cared.

What the fuck does that even mean when it helps save your life? What are seat belts then, junior bondage accessories?

not all americans, ogg. some of them wear them because they understand the science, some because it can't hurt even if they don't really think it helps much. i'm happy to report there are plenty of sensible, caring people. we could just use a lot more, plus those who don't take all their cues from trump

right?

okay, jafo, i need to ask why you refuse to believe the evidence before your eyes (in other countries and in certain areas in the states that have successfully brought figures down through mask use), but also why you don't believe the true epidemiological experts on this? i haven't seen ONE report from an infectious disease expert saying mask wearing right now in this pandemic is pointless. The contrary is true. Everyone from fauci to redfield, birx, and every other top uni infectious expert is stating masks DO reduce the risk.

while aerosolised particles have a good chance of passing through cloth masks, that chance is still reduced by the dampening of the cloth from exhaled and trapped doplets... and the main risk so far is considered to be in the transmission of the virus via the expelled droplets. masks+distancing+sanitising+contact tracing/testing are our best bet till there's a reliable vaccine that the majority of the us population has accessed.
