Why are majorities of the public going along with the Covid tyranny?

When this whole non-sense started, I predicted the public would put up with it for three or four weeks max and then just stop going along with it. Here we are 6 months later, the CDC report last week verifying the obvious that statistically the whole thing is a total scam, and yet majorities of the public, both in the US and worldwide, appear to continue to think this illness warrants unlimited and arbitrary government rules, regulations, restrictions, and limits on our normal lives.

I am honestly at a loss to understand the thought process in the average poo pee head person about this. Is it really political and they think it will "hurt President Trump's re-election chances" whom they don't like? That wouldn't explain worldwide opinion.

Do they honestly fear this particular illness despite the fact there is hardly anyone statistically in the general public who dies from it and few who even have serious symptoms? Are they just sheep who continue to be caught up in media fuelled hysteria? Possibly they are seeking a way to be "virtuous" and going along with this whole thing makes them feel like they are "good people" who care about supposedly "saving lives" despite the obvious absurdity of this. Maybe they are just morons?

It could be any one or a combination of the above. Why people are voluntarily so willing to give up their fundamental rights, including the right to be let alone and to live normal lives, as well as subjecting themselves to outright stupidity like the idiotic mask wearing, is something that may never be fully explainable.

So, you're a poor prognosticator...

I would suggest that you look into "The Bradly Effect."

Nobody wants to look stupid or be ostracized, so
they generally go along to get along no matter what they think...

... and add to that, if you are a business owner you are faced with,
stay closed and and go out of business or open up and be put out of business.

I've been out and about the entire time. I initially people were frightened. Now people are going through the motions. Masks are on the chin, Biden-style, and people only remember to fiddle them into place when they are approached by another masked person. It's comical.

I don't bring it up, since I have lots of experience here with the futility of convincing science-deniers of anything. It's like trying to explain meteorology to that dullard Frodo. Other people bring it up. They range from team-this-is-way-overblown, to team I-probably-already-had-it, to team what-me-worry? to team earnest we-have-to-do-our-part-but-I-have-no-idea-what-that-means.

I don't run into anyone out and about that is personally worried, which is as it should be. If you are sick, stay home. If you are vulnerable, have it delivered.

Here, most of the rednecks are eschewing masks
and none of the merchants proudly displaying
the "No Masks No Service" signs are refusing
to make sales or make anyone comply...

:)

They just "whistle Dixie."

I know I forget mine more than I employ it.

Simply put, I listen to my doctors. Who happen to have pretty decent resumes. More so than your average political blowhard.

Yeah, I know, medical professionals are liars.

Have you seen Dr. Coronager’s resume?

Why aren't the lefty looney progressive communist following the science prognosticator Nancy as she leads by example, she obviously doesn't need a mask. :D

It's a holiday weekend and we're having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave...

The beaches were packed over the weekend. Not many masks, lots of bikinis and skin, and you couldn't see the horizon through all the white sails on the water.

It's over.

It's over because the big scary virus is yesterday's news and people are tired of it. They want to move on with their lives.

I went and got my hair done. That doesn't mean I think the virus is a hoax. It just means that I need nice hair for the next lockdown.

Nope. I disagree.
School started two weeks ago and the numbers are increasing daily...

And as they do, they are protecting the vulnerable who are still where they always were, in nursing homes. The quicker healthy people with youthful, robust immune systems are acquainted with this particular coronavirus, the quicker the populace is adapted to it and it runs out of pathways to reach the vulnerable. Had we done nothing, we would have been where we are now by June

Adre thinks the rarefied air he mingles in cannot carry the virus in aerosolized form.

Are you of the progressive communist persuasion? If so: you need to abstain from getting your hair done, only Nancy can do opposite of what she preaches, why you ask? because she's above it all! she's the elites who knows what better for you because she follows the science, doesn't abide by it but she follows it for your sake! :D;)

This was inevitable no matter when school was restarted.

The virus is out there. Hiding from it won't make it go away and when people begin to interact again, that will result in new cases showing up. You can't stop this from happening. Even with lockdowns, new cases still showed up.

Then there's the obvious point that the lockdown wasn't supposed to "end" the threat of the virus, it was to give the medical community time to gear up. Time for people to "flatten the curve", not "eliminate the virus."

Seeing people going out and about without masks, tells me it's over. The fact that the city has removed all the street barricades, tells me it's over. The fact that this is happening everywhere, tells me it's over.

You see nothing but dedicated immunologists?

Do you have one of "those" diseases?

:p

It would be hilarious to see science deniers trying to argue science, if people weren’t being crippled and dying from their denial.

I think you have a point there.

I think it is being kept alive in the minds of the #NeverTrump fanatics
because they have a deep-seated need for him to be wrong,
because they know, for a fact, that in 2016 they voted right,
so 2020 has become The Big Do-Over...

I think this is why they are so adamant the the fear must continue unabated.

2 things.

We know for a fact that the numbers of new cases is going to spike later this week because of the holiday gatherings.

This information can be used to "blame Trump" for "being incompetent" even though a rational person would understand that Trump isn't responsible for your holiday weekend BBQ.
