Orchi hit another good one. Some good effing food gets me jacked up. Particularly making a dish or meal myself, especially slow and low BBQ. Up at 3 AM with a brisket? Hells ya. Getting everything right, the timing, the setting, the pairings. Like the cornbread hot out of the oven with the jalapeno mac and cheese, the ribs perfectly sauced, coleslaw on point... everyone digging in and that moment when I'm sitting at the end of the table with a beer and someone says "get in here, you worked all day" and I'm just like "nope, I'm good here for a minute." That gets me going.

But now I am hungry.

Good food sometimes is better than good sex and orgasm. :D
When I am having a 5-6 hours lunch and in good company. After that, I am like: I can die right now, because I am so happy and I don't need anything else. Ahhh goduria! :D

We should do lunch... Wait, you said good company. Crap. 😂

Ooooh, Sassy has noticed! ;)

*adds to calendar* Um, this might be databasing. Yup, I made up a verb.

So let’s follow it up with a question.
What gets you high?
Not in the traditional sense. Not talkin about substances.
More like... a good, long run. A hot shower. Fixing something that’s broken. Cooking a meal to perfection. Catching a big fish.

What gives you a nice, healthy buzz?

Music, art, reading and culture. I love all of those things and they definitely give me a healthy buzz. Being at a music festival or concert just feels amazing. Or an Art Gallery, a great book. Different kind of buzz for each but they all make me ‘feel’

My family and friends is a different kind of buzz, for me, there’s nothing quite like it. It just feels so good. And that family meal or meal with friends when you sit back and take it all in and realise that there is a whole lot to be grateful for. I LOVE that feeling.

I’m also going to be boring and mention my job because that is something that definitely gives me a healthy buzz. I get to work with awe inspiring, incredible people.

I couldn't have said it better, myself.

Am I really the only one that gets ecstatic about a fresh box of donuts, a key lime pie or stellar Italian creme cake?

I mean, arts amazing. Music is 70% of my day...but cake? Get the fuck outta here, imma eat and let that dopamine flow.

Edit: So...apparently it can’t be a thing. I don’t like Trekkas rules.

Cake makes everything better 😎

I don’t like cake. Never have. At least not since the 70s.

I do, however, enjoy cooking. Turn up the music in the kitchen and knead the fuck out of some dough.

Made empanadas yesterday.

Throwing shit together to create flavor. Calms me down.

You don’t like cake? 🤨

Healthy highs? I'm much more familiar with unhealthy ones... like shopping sprees, binge eating, and showing strangers my bits. When I'm feeling down, things like that lift me up, albeit temporarily.

I really need some healthy highs in my life though.

Funny. I was trying to think of healthy ones and struggled also.

Also very familiar with those you listed.

I'm agreeing with Cake. Cake. and Cake. I'm getting around the "it can't be a substance rule by saying it's the taste of the cake, not the sugar high you get from it. So there.

And shopping. Scoring a great bargain.

Also, learning something that helps me understand something. I love that moment when I think "Ooooohhhhh, so THAT'S what that means!"

Laughter.
Hearing people I love happy.
Good bourbon, in moderation.
Reading a book that locks me in.

The rest of my buzz-inducing things are unhealthier. Binge- eating. Too much bourbon. Too much Lit, even though it's healthier than it was.

talking to someone special
helping someone
baking

chocolate...yes chocolate

Corbal is fulla shit- it ain’t just cake- she totally gets a buzz out of a solid workout! And so do I. 😉

Uppers:
Coffee in the morning. Is that a substance? It’s an experience for me.
Travel planning. Even if right now it’s all in my head.
Hooking a big fish. Both literally and figuratively.
Nailing a presentation or big meeting at work.
Singing a song at the top of my lungs all alone in my car and *nailing it* ! 😉
A perfectly assembled outfit.

Downers:
Tea at night.
Travel going: like after the getting-there part where you can just unwind and explore.
Underwater: diving and watching the fish. Oh that post-dive buzz is good shit!
Repurposing leftovers into something fabulous.
Petting my kitty cats.
Getting a massage. Foot rub. Pedicure. Touch me! 😍
Chopping vegetables. It’s zen like.

Sitting on top of the mountain...it feels like it is an out-of-body experience. Jet skis on rough water...20minutes tops and my legs literally shake. Steep and deep snow...the rush of going over the edge. You know what? I really am an adrenaline junkie.
