America is having Theft of Village Green Moment

August 27, 2020

Trump is having a combination Trump rally/ 2020 RNC political convention on WH lawn.

The South Lawn of the White House is not Trump's private property.

The White House is not his privately owned hotel.

Yet, a tall fence surrounds the White House to protect his 1,000-1,500 guests.

Trump flouts norms, speaks from White House to accept Republican nomination

There's a few thousand people there and none are wearing masks! I truly hope they all get COVID-19 and die!

Trump is a pig, a liar, and a criminal. He WILL end up in prison at some point. Just watch.

Please vote Biden/Harris in November. Trump must go!

President Trump celebrated his renomination Thursday with a crowded party
at the White House that offered a jarring contrast with a nation that is still
widely shut down over fears of the coronavirus pandemic whose spread
remains uncontrolled.

More than 1,500 supporters poured onto the South Lawn for his formal acceptance
speech to cap the Republican National Convention, and most were not wearing masks,
even though they were seated closely together in white folding chairs.

(cheap seats at the very back of the lawn, sitting on the grass)

A large stage was set up just beyond the White House portico, lined w/ dozens of
American flags — a dramatic backdrop that allowed the president to wield the
visual power of the office (that he holds, because of his theft of the American vote)
at a campaign event despite federal regulations that seek to limit such activities.

As Trump spoke, his family was seated onstage and many Cabinet members were in
the front rows. Most not wearing masks. One exception was HHS Secretary Alex Azar.

This is beyond! An opera singer, fireworks, a huge show at the White House.
No masks. No social distancing. Lies, false rhetoric and no accountability.
There are sooo many people suffering right now in so many ways.
How can you support this?!

I just turned on the TV to see an opera singer, fireworks, and thousands of unmasked
Americans on the WH lawn. Earlier today I spoke with a patient still on oxygen,
11 weeks after a #COVID diagnosis. And then another that needs a MRI and
can’t afford it. Two Americas.

was put there to make life heck for the news agencies reporting live? LOL smart.....

GOP convention wraps up with opera, fireworks

Trump’s speech was punctuated by musical selections including
“You’re a Grand Old Flag” and fireworks display on the National Mall,
with some of the fireworks spelling out “Trump” and “2020.”

Opera singer Christopher Macchio also performed from the Blue Room balcony.

As long as the guests Trump had there now keep it to themselves and don't go out into the general population, this might be fine as a weeding process.

The DC Trump Hotel’s rates have shot way up for this week. I hope that the staff there are receiving hazard pay.

I caught Trump and part of Ivanka's speech and thought the set was magnificent. Almost Nuremberg in miniature ! The Crowd fading away into the dark, bouncing up and down as Trump lied his greatest hits. Trump;s performance was good, very few stumbles and he seemed to keep on script though he did squint a few times as he read the teleprompter. A-

In content he was horrid though. The speech was heavily Stephen Millerish!

*tip of the hat, to the Blurt Thread, on the GB, and one of the GB's favourite blurters

First, there as Military brown Barbie dress, the next dress was fluorescent glo-stick green.

(with a red belt- Did she glow in the dark ?) Trump is waving Melania dresses, as if they were signals.

What could these two messages possibly add up to?

NPR noticed

First Lady Melania Trump, center, in a bright, lime green dress at last night's
Republican National Convention. It's a color begging to be photoshopped,
and the Internet reliably delivered.

When first lady Melania Trump appeared at the last night of the RNC Thursday,
she wore a Valentino dress in a lime green shade — a green screen green, of sorts.

Images referencing the more than 180,000 Americans dead from the coronavirus
pandemic, President Trump's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, as well as the
immigration crisis at the border were plastered onto the dress, online, last night.

Melania's fashion choices always send a message

— The Daily Show (@TheDailyShow) August 28, 2020

There were some lighter jabs, too:

Interesting dress choice by Melania Trump #RNC2020

— Yes, You're Racist (@YesYoureRacist) August 28, 2020

(Past references...)

Her military-style olive green dress (olive brown military khaki) on Wednesday
had New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman dubbing her "dressed for battle."
And then there was the green jacket she infamously wore in 2018, on her way to visit
detained immigrant children in Texas, that read in big white letters: "I really don't care."
"Do U?"

Far be it for anyone to tell anyone else what to wear, but bright meme green seems
like an easy color to want to avoid. Just ask Queen Elizabeth II.

Ivanka strives to prove her loyalty to her daddy- sticking it to Elton John, trolling

Ivanka Trump used an iconic Elton John song for her Republican convention speech

August 28, 2020

Ivanka Trump had the audacity Thursday evening (August 27) to walk onto the 2020
Republican National Convention stage to a beloved Elton John song.

Donald Trump is a known fan of Elton John’s – much to the singer’s dismay –
regularly blasting “Tiny Dancer” during his 2016 election campaign and
apparently harbouring an obsession with sending Kim Jong-Un a CD of
“Rocket Man”.

It follows, then, that his daughter Ivanka – coincidentally, one of his top advisors –
strolled onstage at the Republican National Convention to the tune of
I’m Still Standing”.

A showman, much of the music Trump has blasted from speaker systems at
campaign rallies, which he personally selects, tend to be well-known sing-
alongs from white artists or majority-white bands, as well as songs that
contain extensive references to having sex with men.*

WMUR reports that the original plan for Trump to use the hangar adjacent to the
PeriCohas hangar for logistical support hit a snag – that building is used to store
Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s DHART medical helicopter. Before the venue switch
a communication director for the hospital advised the Trump campaign that they
would be willing to temporarily move the helicopter but the cost of the move
would have to be reimbursed by the campaign. By Wednesday night a change
of venue was announced.

The campaign no longer allowing supporters into the hangar where his speech will take
place. A group of overflow supporters instead crowded around an outdoor screen that
would broadcast the rally.

The president’s appearance in the state comes a day after his official acceptance
of the Republican nomination.

LONDONDERRY, N.H. —

President Donald Trump returned to some of his favorite themes in the first rally
of the general election in New Hampshire Friday evening, criticizing the media
for stoking racial hatred, blaming China for planting the coronavirus,
and describing himself as an outsider intent on taking down
establishment politicians.

“We are all that stand between the American people and the left-wing mob,”
Trump said to cheers.

From the start, the crowd’s energy was palpable. Multiple times, they broke into cheers
of “Four more years!” or “USA!”

(bodysong comment- Paid cheerleaders ? They follow the cues, and the script.)

"Protesters are just looking for trouble.”

“It has nothing to do with George Floyd or anything,” Trump said,
referring to the Black man who was killed in police custody
after a white police officer kneeled on his neck in Minneapolis.

“They’re not protesters...Those are anarchists, they’re agitators, they’re rioters,
they’re looters.”

“You’re not going to have low-income housing built in your suburbs anymore."

"But nobody writes that,” he told the crowd.

Cognitive Dissonance vibrated all through Trump's speech on the South Lawn

Trump's guests did not seem to notice. Maybe, they do not have time for crying mothers.
Non-stop election campaign, all summer long. So much fundraising and speeches.
Yacht parades, to show support for Trump, and private fundraising dinners.
By Monday, branches of the press may agree that 180,000 Americans are dead
because of coronavirus.

Trump blasphemes Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' at RNC

LA Times

https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/music/story/2020-08-28/trump-hallelujah-leonard-cohen-rnc

Statement from Michelle L. Rice, Legal Representative of the Cohen Estate:

“We are surprised and dismayed that the RNC would proceed knowing that
the Cohen Estate had specifically declined the RNC’s use request, and their
rather brazen attempt to politicize and exploit in such an egregious manner
“Hallelujah”, one of the most important songs in the Cohen song catalogue.
We are exploring our legal options.

Referring to the building occupied by every president since John Adams, Trump boasted:
“We’re here, and they’re not.”

It was a split-personality speech at the end of a whiplash week for Republicans,
alternating between filling Americans with optimism and frightening them.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...2e46e759b_story.html?itid=lk_inline_manual_42

Republicans cobbled together a lineup of Black speakers who observed the etiquette
governing Black behavior when in the presence of a White conservative audience:
Come across as agreeable and nonthreatening, soft-pedal racism, and paint President Trump
as the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in disguise. Bless their hearts.

The GOP convention, through a tissue of lies, sought to sell the Trump administration
as a thing of beauty. It was tantamount to putting lipstick on a pig.

Bishop Aubrey Shines is no stranger to conservative politics. On the eve of the 2016
election, he told the GOP of Hillsborough County, Fla., that Trump was the candidate
Black voters have been waiting for, and produced a video with the provocative title,
“Black Pastors Do Not Support Hillary Clinton.” Neither was true.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...30bed8-e937-11ea-970a-64c73a1c2392_story.html

Trump’s convention speech came in the immediate aftermath of deadly violence against
protesters in Wisconsin. It was an easy opportunity to distance the Republican Party
from militia violence and white supremacy in any form.
But Trump did nothing of the sort.

Trump is attempting to win suburban voters back by feeding their worst fears
of urban chaos. This, like the Southern strategy before it, has roots in racism.

Trump’s convention speech was helpful and revealing in an unintended way.
Any president who uses a moment of national division to drive our divisions deeper
has disqualified himself for the office.

Trump desecrates a public monument in the finale to a convention of lies

Republicans created a mythical present in which the coronavirus is vanquished,
the economy is booming, our “brave soldiers” are “on the way home” from the
Middle East and, astonishingly, Mr. Trump is bosom buddies with German Chancellor
Angela Merkel.

The conjured specter of widespread “urban violence,” combined with warnings that
the dictatorial Democrats against “guns, gasoline and God” would force Americans
to wear masks, lock them down and keep them from church, may well resonate with
people the GOP is aiming to fire up.

Jim Gaffigan on anti-Trump Twitter rant:
“If it were a stunt, I would have done it years ago.”

Last Thursday, after the Republican National Convention wrapped up with unauthorized use

(This is only part of what Jim Gaffigan posted)

I may lose you on this, but I believe MOST politicians are motivated by the best intentions.
I might not have agreed with Bill Clinton, George W, or Jimmy Carter on a lot of things
but I do believe they had the best intentions. I don’t think Trump does.
This isn’t just a feeling. This is something I’ve known for a long time.

It’s about Trump: It doesn’t matter that Trump and his folks are breaking laws,
trying to kill Obamacare, pre-existing conditions or that his handling of the
pandemic was disastrous, to Trump voters he is THEIR guy.
More importantly he’s “THEIR president” and disagreeing with them
is a personal insult. For many Trump voters this isn’t about any other issue
except Trump himself. To me that is not only weird but kind of scary.

I’m still digesting the whole experience (and still apologizing to my wife, Jeannie,
for my profanity) but if you are still on the fence-

I encourage you to vote not for who I want you to vote for but for who your
grandchildren would be proud you fucking voted for.
(Sorry, Jeannie.)

Jim Gaffigan is an award-winning, well-regarded, popular comedian.

Part of Gaffigan’s appeal is his family-friendly comedy, that he writes and works on
with his wife and frequently centers around food and Gaffigan’s obsessions with food.
Gaffigan has a large family, which includes five children-
leading to my favorite Gaffigan joke: “If you want to know what it’s like to have a fourth,
just imagine you’re drowning … and then someone hands you a baby.”
Gaffigan is also openly Catholic, and was asked by the Roman Catholic Church
to do warmup for the World Meeting of Families back in 2015, when he opened
for the Pope—yes, that Pope.

If you’ve ever listened to Gaffigan interviewed or watched his act, he tends to stay away
from talking politics. He’s not averse to saying that he is in general liberal, but he also
doesn’t do much joking when it comes to the current political climate. However, on
Thursday night, Gaffigan seems to have become fed up with the titanic levels of hypocrisy
on display by many and the depressing level of pig-headedness shown by people pretending
that what Trump is saying and doing is anything besides grotesque. So Gaffigan went online,
and went off.

What happened to Jeff Flake ?

August 24, 2020

Former GOP Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona has endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Flake was one of President Donald Trump's most consistent Republican critics in the Senate.
He penned an Op Ed in The Washington Post in support of Trump’s impeachment.

Flake retired from the Senate at the end of his term in 2019, saying he was out of step
with the Republican Party in the era of Trump. He later wrote a book, “Conscience of a
Conservative,” that was a critique of Trump.

Flake is one of more than two dozen former Republican lawmakers to announce their
support for “Republicans for Biden.” Former Reps. Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania, Jim
Greenwood of Pennsylvania, Jim Leach of Iowa, and Sen. John Warner of Virginia are
among former Republican lawmakers who also have endorsed Biden.

Trump literally ran Paul Ryan out of politics. Why? Paul Ryan knew Trump was poison.
So does Romney. Trump is not a conservative or even a Republican. You know that.

"American Carnage"

Paul Ryan says Trump ‘didn’t know anything about government’ in new Tim Alberta book

WASHINGTON —
Few people have more power in President Trump’s White House than Madeleine
Westerhout, his executive assistant who controls access to the Oval Office, delivers
the president’s marker-scribbled messages, sends orders to top military officials,
prints emails and articles to show Trump, and seeks to keep a tight grip on his schedule.

But she was not always a staunch supporter of the president. On election night,
Westerhout, then a Republican National Committee aide, broke down crying,
"inconsolable’’ over Trump winning the election..

‘‘To the amusement of her RNC peers, she was later chosen as the president’s executive
assistant and now sits just outside the Oval Office,’’ writes Tim Alberta in ‘‘American
Carnage,’’ a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Post ahead of its scheduled
release Tuesday.

Trump pressured the head of the Iowa GOP in 2016 to invalidate the results after he lost
the caucus.

November 2016
Henry McMaster, then South Carolina’s lieutenant governor, told Trump he wanted to be
governor of the state - (Mcmaster as the first to endorse Trump for president)

McMaster explained that it was not so easy — and that he could only become governor
if Nikki Haley were not around. ‘‘Within days, seemingly out of left field-
Trump announced Haley as his pick for ambassador to the United Nations.’’

After a 2018 rally in Missouri where Trump soaked in the adulation of the crowd,
he screams into the night: ‘‘I [expletive] love this job!’’
