The RNC is not adopting a platform during their convention. Zip, zero, nada.

Their only platform is a statement in support of Trump. In other words, they’re completely on brand.

Like we said all along, it's simply a cult of one, Dear Leader, the Autocrat.

Like all autocrats everywhere, he's co-opting all the symbols of OUR DEMOCRACY for his own use like the WH, the Flag, the Lincoln Memorial.

Anyone who supports him is anti-American and pro-dictator.

They have sold their souls to the devil for supreme court picks.

They are a complete disgrace.

There are only two platforms;

I am Trump, vote for me.

I am not Trump, vote for me.

Everything else is just ......

The GOP will forego the platform and support instead the Trump agenda;

The differences will be, the words "under God" will not be removed from the pledge of allegiance and Raul Castro didn't inspire the Trump Agenda for the second term. :rolleyes:

Trump spreads all kinds of false stuff. The problem is, not only do people believe it, but anytime a major news outlet debunks his false stuff, these people ironically call it "Fake news." Because the way it's supposed to work, the only real news is the mouthpiece for the government. As our resident Russian troll (rightguide) would know.

to have a platform, you have to actually write some plan down, even if you have no intention doing any of it. The Trumpettes have just decided not to pretend they have any plans at all beyond what occurs to Himself from minute to minute.

I get a kick out of the cultists attacking the "socialist" democrats for trying to instill some fairness into the system, while ignoring the failure of crony capitalism that has led to the many crises in America today.

I know life isn't fair, but government should be.

I didn't watch it, but I am reading the transcript and I'm not particularly impressed.

Your response is completely reasonable, but given the total absence of substance their objective is not to appeal to reason but to emotion. It is an emotional appeal to Trumps base which will, I think succeed; It is also an emotional appeal to suburban women, but for them it is to frighten them: of crime , blacks, immigrants and sundry bogeymen. The base alone is not enough.

This is Trump's convention - the GOP hasn't turned up, either in person or ideas.

The voting cohort of American women will decide whether Trump has a future - or not.

It all comes done to the size of this "Trump's base." What is happening to make it any bigger? It never has been in the majority.

Agreed that he tried to appeal to the fear. That's pretty much the party's MO - it's all we hear from them. However that is singing to the choir and there are few republicans who need the motivation of that message.

How many independents will buy into it? How many will be turned off by it?

Something of interest:

That is came out of a Republican's mouth? I was shocked and to the point of thinking that someone in convention planning had booked him to speak by accident.

I assume that he was booked to speak directly to independents and vacillating Dems.

Considering that he spent a significant amount of time blaming democrats and pushing fear, along with some blatant lies... I'm not surprised at all it came out of a republican's mouth.

He didn't sound sincere. Will the independents think he is? Even if they do, is it enough to make them embrace Trump?

I made it through Steve Scalise and left it to do something else. Figure it's going to be the usual pablum for the base, and I don't need to hear it to make a decision when I hit the polls on Oct. 13.
