Americans with less education are voting Republican, with the more educated voting Democrat.

Between elections, the divide seems to grow wider, with the stupid people becoming increasingly vocal and violent.

Should the right to vote be determined by Intelligence instead of Age?

You misspelled "indoctrinated." It's a common mistake when discussing what passes for higher education in America today.

Education has nothing to do with the process.

I'm fine with requiring a passing grade on tests in literacy, mathematics, and history before you can vote.

You could be intelligent and support the Republicans even if President Trump worries you.

You could be stupid and support the democrats because you believe you'll get free stuff. If you were intelligent you'd know someone has to pay -usually you.

So “Yo Semite” could disqualify a person?:D

Define "educated".....LOL

Because I've got a BS in biology and chemistry from the U of Tejas and an MS in plant science from Stanford....and then there is my military education.

By all measures I'm "educated".

Even if the (D)'s all suddenly cam out against Woke-O' Haram? I wouldn't believe it and would still vote against them on principal. There is enough money in the world to get me to support that evil.

And one of these days you’ll get educated on the difference between principal and principle.

I know the difference, it was a spelling error.

Have you figured out why your support for the totalitarian state and white hot searing hatred of any sort of individual liberty of any sort makes you not a liberal yet comrade??

Hold on I'm all for clear, not precise communication.Yet to believe there is not or no "In- doctors- nation" inherent in a country where racial or even racist views are persuasive and even apparent,ie Confederate Flag. Also you colonials are pretty radical about your religion,if you didn't have the first amendment I could believe certain states would still be stoning heretics. The bible was used to reinforce slavery,"in doctors nation".

P.S. Please excuse any "Phone -Net - Tic" spelling,ie clear not precise.

Who CAN’T Vote?

Non-citizens, including permanent legal residents

Some people with felony convictions. Rules vary by state. Check with your state elections office about the laws in your state.

Some people who are mentally incapacitated. Rules vary by state.

For president in the general election: U.S. citizens residing in U.S. territories

Looks like they just need to better define mental capacity.

Republicans would never win the presidency again if you had to pass a test to vote.

I'm not sure ANYONE would. Those who passed the test would look at the competing candidates and declare all of them unfit.

Only a truly uneducated man would think a mispronunciation denotes a lack of education. It merely means the person learned the word from reading it.

You should read more.

You’re saying Trump read something? Bahahahahaah. You seem extra stupid today.

The way we learn to pronounce words is to attend class and listen, have discussions with intelligent people and pay attention, and seek out answers when we have questions. All things your stupid President would never bother doing.

Hmmm...he didn't use the word indoctrinated. Ah, such a good example of what some people do.

Yep, I'm for a test. Actually, I'm for better education in the USA. Most folks don't know basic shit like 4 different types of humans walked the earth and went extinct leaving us(homo sapiens) here, let alone what communism and socialism is and isn't. Unemployment compensation, Medicare, Social Security are all forms of democratic socialism. Or that Obama Care and the affordable Care act are the same thing.

I've often thought we need a knowledge test for voters. Education per se is easy to fudge; witness people with degrees in Klingon grammar. Is there some reason somebody with such a degree is better qualified to exercise the franchise than somebody without a degree but who has, say, been running a plumbing supply store for 15 years?

How about this? All parties nominate people to form a panel drafting a collection of questions in history, economics, the constitution, etc. Nothing PhD level - perhaps just the sort of things would-be citizens are expected to know. A would-be voter shows up and is given a set of randomly-selected questions. Those who pass the test get handed a ballot. Those who don't still get their ballot but they also get 10% added to next year's tax bill.

Some other thoughts:

Maybe people like firefighters should get two votes, 'cause they've put their lives on the line for society on a regular basis.

We talk of 'no taxation without representation', but look at the slice of taxes paid by firms and companies. Could one make the argument that, as employers are the ones actually funding our society, the ones making the biggest contribution to the GDP, they should have some say in how society spends it? No? Pray explain why somebody with a life spent in low debauchery and petty crime should have the same say as somebody creating jobs for 25 families.

Maybe men should take a bow for a term and give all the votes to women for one election. Women couldn't possibly botch it more than men have and, at worst, men would afterwards have solid evidence against the very concept of votes for women.

Maybe one should accumulate votes with age, because life experience counts. Or, perhaps, one's vote should make less and less of a difference as one ages, because one gradually loses touch with new technology as one ages and senility is real.

This is contradictory at best -
extremely fallacious at worst.

Uhhh.......

Tests?

That is a form of poll tax.

Poll taxes are racist. That is settled rhetoric.

As Winston Churchill said: Democracy is the worst form of government except for all the others that have been tried.

True, but also a cop-out.

Then again, I think the USA is too far gone.

A great idea for a country lost to greed, sloth and avarice.

It really has turned into "I am going to do whatever the fuck I want" society. Leadership will become useless.
