IF he either postponed the election, or did not accept the results as legitimate, or said that there were emergency circumstances that meant a change of power couldn't happen yet?

I'm not so much interested in the debate over whether it will or won't happen, there's plenty of that in the media, but I am interested in how y'all would feel, think and react in those hypothetical situations.

Nancy Pelosi becomes President on January 20th if no President is elected. Which I think is hilarious.

Our Constitution will not let him delay an election.

I hope he refuses to leave the White House so that I can see him forcefully removed by the appropriate authorities.

If Ivanka moves in and does daily cam shows with Melania, he can stay.

There are 3 different scenarios here.

1. He doesn’t leave after losing and will be forced out.

2. There is no clear winner by 1/20. That had people like Lawrence Tribe saying Pelosi will be President.

3. No election is held for whatever reason. That looks like it would be up to the then Democratically controlled Senate to select the next president pro tempore of the Senate, also known as POTUS.

How should one react to a hypothetical situation?

Hypothetically. :)

That's what should happen... The official measures to prevent shenanigans. That's not really the question though. Hypothetically, if he's (for whatever reason, and however he achieves it) going nowhere, what would you feel/think/do?

Personally, I wouldn’t be shocked at all considering the history of this administration. If there was an effort to thwart the processes that are in place? I really do my know what I could do. Again, I would not be shocked, more like frustrated and outraged.

Or the more likely scenario, the election takes place on November 3 and Trump wins with a big enough majority to send you and the rest of the snowflake left into a self debasing panty filling frenzy unseen since 2016.

Check what the bookmakers think about your wishful thinking. It’s serious for them, it’s money.

I'm not interested in the bookies. I'm only interested in November the 4th.

As to the question, I read something a few weeks back from some top military official that says He will be escorted from the premises by any means necessary.

Again, not the question. Even if you voted from him, even if you wanted him in power, how would you react if you saw democracy being bypassed?

ReichGuard stopped supporting or believing in Democracy four years ago.

President Patrick Leahy. LOL.

I have my pessimistic moments, but I have to say that this is not a scenario that scares me much, because Trump doesn't get to decide when his term ends — the Constitution does. On noon, January 20, 2021, he will no longer be president unless he's the one getting sworn in.

Though if Trump were to come out and say "I lost, which means the election was fraudulent, so I'm going to show up and take the oath regardless of what the Electoral College says," I have no doubt he'd get majority support among Republicans for that. They've abandoned any belief in democracy as a value in itself.

If Trump were to lose he would simply say Adios, and move on with his life. I don'think he truly expected to win and part of him must wonder why he's put himself through this madness.

The question is ridiculous. He will leave if defeated. The Presidential election process is controlled by the Constitution. The states determine who is qualified to vote in their jurisdictions. Elections do have to be conducted lawfully so the legality of process and result could be decided by a federal court.

Legally the Senate could pick anyone that fits the few qualifications needed to be President.

I believe it is hard to say how you would feel in any given situation until you find yourself in it.

If he no longer has authority of office, the Secret Service will simply pick his ass up out of the chair and deliver him to the mental ward of a prison. They're not going to go to the mat for a guy no longer with any authority to be there. There may be personal loyalty people in the streets; they're not in the actual government bureaucracy to any significant degree.

That assumes (D)'s take the Senate.....

With their behavior as of late they'll be lucky to keep the house.

Never before seen.....they will be burning their shit down on a scale that's going to make the last few months look like good behavior.

I'm a bit more torn about it than I normally would be considering his doing so would protect my interest against those who explicitly threaten it (democrats).

The SS isn't going to do shit. Jack off somewhere else.

They would 100% have control of the Senate. The numbers are what they are with anyone whose term was up in January being out and having had no election held.

PFC Poopsy strikes again.

The thing you have to understand about the republicans, is that they have no bottom. Even if Trump loses the popular a vote by millions, and loses the electoral college by a fair margin, they will still support Trump if he chooses to challenge the election results on baseless claims of mass voter fraud.

If you look at the typical right winger you will see a true snowflake. White as can be, and unable to tolerate the hot spotlight of scrutiny when it comes to how they accumulated their wealth and power.

Trump is the poster child for the myth of the self made man. The right wingers are terrified that if he loses the presidency, and the GOP loses the senate, the truth about his wealth and how he amassed it will finally see the light of day, and the myth will melt just like a snowflake.

Democrats have handled the peaceful transfer of power gracefully under some very trying circumstances. Al Gore in 2000, and Hillary in 2016. Both were more deserving of the presidency as evidenced by Bush and Trump's utter incompetence. Both Gote and Clinton won the popular vote by a substantial margin. If Trump loses and refuses to accept the results, and the GOP backs him up, all bets are off on how the left will react. I'm guessing antifa will see a boost in recruitment, and a lot of fires will be burning.
