Reports from all 50 states of some kind of seeds showing up in the mail without people having ordered them. They are of multiple varieties in different packaging.

Nobody seems to know what it's all about, but suspicions are some kind of retail scam.

But what if it isn't? What if it's something else?

They’re Goya beans. Plant them, and they’ll sprout into a Trump campaign ad.

I can not believe no one knows what they are. So No One has planted them to find out. I'm calling BS.

probably something entirely common and 'unexotic' from wherever they arrived. one couple said they ordered some seeds and got these, planted them but nothing happened.

some of the pics look a bit like coffee beans but with all the (to westerners) unusual fruits and veggies in the east, they could be anything or more than one anything.

edit: went looking at more reports and the seeds seem a diverse range, all looking different.

seems it's most likely a 'brushing scam' but with ted miller so keen to tie it to chinese skullduggery, who knows?

“These are highly illegal. Don’t plant them. Don’t mess around with them,” Miller said. “Treat them like they’re radioactive or like Kryptonite.”

It’s illegal to send seeds to the U.S. from overseas without proper permits, and many of the packages were mislabeled as containing jewelry, Miller said.

While the seeds are still being tested in labs and undergoing investigation, Miller said there is a “pretty good possibility” that they are a part of a brushing scam, when a vendor attempts to bolster product ratings by shipping products unprompted and then writing a review using that person’s name. The lab should have results in seven to 10 days, Miller said.

In an interview with The Texas Tribune, Miller attempted to tie the seeds to the coronavirus pandemic.

"I'm getting sick and tired of these surprises coming out of China. First, it was a China virus, then it was murder hornets. Then we had closed down their embassy because of espionage and spying," Miller said. "And now we, you know, we've got all these mysterious seeds."
the 'china virus' ... yeah, he's a trumpite, no doubt about it. a racist blowhard. kryptonite seeds ffs. don't let an opportunity to stir mistrust of foreigners go to waste

Yeah. I can often tell what kinds of seeds by just looking at them! You would think the dept. of agriculture could do that. But maybe they don't want to touch them for fear of ricin or some such thing.

Got mine yesterday; found it amusing when I read the packaging and it said: Made in USA.

If you get some and want to grow them, I just hope you have the means to contain and destroy the plant if it turns out to be something highly invasive.

It's not just in the USA. The Canadian Dept of Agriculture is warning people against planting them. There is some possibility that they might be an invasive species or be carrying some form of plant disease. Weird, in any case.

If you look at the seed photos in a bunch of the Google news search results, they're all different.

Best practical joke ever. Smells like the RNC to me.

I'm surprised the conspiragoofs aren't running faster and harder with that. 'First they send a bug to contaminate us, then they send a bug to contaminate the plants.'

Most Covid masts come from China. No demon seeds required.

Then again, the seeds could be a backup for the anti-maskers.

If Russia buys the Readers Digest, that's the Fourth Horseman.

Where is our resident expert on botany? Did he get banned just when we need him?
