Republicans

So far the reports of the Republicans abandoning Trump look like mostly hopeful thinking of non-Republicans.

They're as stuck with him as the Nazis were with Hitler to the bitter end. Same as the Fascists with Mussolini. Though admittedly, some Fascists did turn on Il Duce. And paid for it with their lives, including his own son-in-law.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) usually extorts what he wants for himself,
or his patrons from the Democrats sense of urgency to get something done, to prevent more
human misery and pain, from being inflicted on Americans.

Republicans are skipping town for the weekend, without finalizing a plan to extend
the $600-per-week boost in unemployment benefits set to expire in just two days,
leaving 30 million Americans without a key financial lifeline.

Also the Republicans are seeking to sneak in the TRUST Act into the recovery bill so they'll be able to cut Social Security later on.

With luck and if they continue fucking up as they are, there won't be a Republican future.

What a shame that only four incumbent Republican governors are up this year. It'll be interesting to see if guys like DeSantis and Kemp can bounce back in two years.

‘This whole house of cards is gonna collapse’: GOP shutters Senate with US on verge of economic catastrophe

As Senate Republicans headed home for the weekend without extending unemployment insurance benefits or approving other economic relief programs that could help millions of Americans weather the ongoing financial catastrophe of the coronavirus pandemic, progressives and congressional Democrats warned that disaster is on the horizon.

“This whole house of cards is going to collapse,” Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Mich.) warned during a press conference Friday afternoon.

Filmmaker Michael Moore cautioned lawmakers not to let the unemployment benefits lapse lest the country tip into a total economic mess.

“The magnitude of suffering this is about to cause is so immense,” said Moore, “they have no idea of how much shit is gonna hit the fan.”

Republicans, It Is All Your Fault!

Ted Cruz spews disgust at ‘waiters and waitresses’ who he says don’t deserve $600 unemployment checks

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Sunday blasted waiters, waitresses and bus boys who he said don’t deserve an additional $600 per week for being unemployed during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Do you object to providing any kind or any amount of federal boost to unemployment?” Brennan wondered. “Because not everyone is choosing to be out of work.”

“The policy the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi are pushing adds an additional $600 a week,” Cruz complained. “The problem is, for 68% of people receiving it right now, they are being paid more on unemployment than they made in their job.”

‘Good luck eating out’: Ted Cruz faces backlash after suggesting restaurant servers are grifters

Cruz or no Cruz, he's right and it isn't about waitstaff. There are a LOT of people in a number of lower paying fields that are essentially being paid to stay home.

Some businesses have complained that they've tried to get people to come back to work and they refused for just that reason. The first round should have been capped at 70-80% of a worker's pay like the second one is said to be.

Don't be dumb. They aren't coming back to work because they don't want to die from the Trump "administration's" total defeat to covid-19. Do you really think they are coming back to work even if the funds are cut off completely? Many of them wouldn't. Certainly there aren't going to be enough teachers anywhere to return to inadequately planned school reopenings for school to happen. People will go to the streets and join the activity that just circles back to Trump's total failure to control anything.

There's often not any work to come back to, anyway. A lot of jobs are lost and there are more workers than slots to fill.

The six hundred extra dollars was a rather crude experiment at a UBI...and it worked. People won't realize just how well it worked until it has been dropped and the bottom drops out of the economy.

what would you do with out Trump?

what would you do with out Trump?

Just for starters, I wouldn't be reading obituaries of some people I know, you silly little ass.

I'd like to be there when (if) that little sneer comes off your face as you watch a relative take his/her last breath and unnecessarily dying from covid-19 because of the corrupt/criminal failure of Donald Trump, you slimy little toad.

When we think about the next round of stimulus, we must look at how much of the first round was diverted from the people who needed the money to eat and pay rent and how much was forked over to the 1% so they could buy back shares. That money didn't recirculate to support the failing economy.
