People will never understand if we do not tell the truth about how bad it really is

This is also a prime example of a rhetorical fallacy,
that of using the exception to prove the rule.

All over America, most hospitals are not being "overwhelmed"
but reporting on that truth does not advance a political agenda
for such stain institutions and the NYT and NPR who are united
in the political goal of a coup against an elected government...

"Just how bad is it Johnny?"

Considering death rate v. infection rate it's about as bad as the annual flu, that's how bad it is.

Then there's THIS.

Nearly cut off a toe yesterday.

Think i was going to go to the Emerg to wait for 8 hours in the Big Covid Incubator?

No thank you.

Soaked it, steri-strips, taped it to its neighbor.

Don't have a Doc in the Box?

Couldn't go see your doctor?

I'm not seeing a point well-made here...

Nobody is stopping you,
but I do wonder which part of the story is being exaggerated...

;) ;)

A funny thing has overcome us as a society. something has transformed us into something much different today than our past, let's say back in the 60s. Back in the 60s and 70s we bobbed up and down in the sea of life connected together by true journalism, journalism very much different and unintrusive. We were exposed to prime time news at 7:pM ( Walter Cronkite ) and early morning news ( Arthur Godfrey ) at 7: am till around 8: AM and then went about our own lives. Today we are exposed to 24/7 politically poisoned commentary since the creation of media platforms. The paradox is as these platforms connect us more intimately as they
equally separate us as a society. We have morphed from a country of great national pride and unity to becoming as tribal as the third world country of afghanistan. Marxism has finally taken root in our country.

One overloaded hospital is exemplar of all hospitals,
but violent protestors have nothing to do with the protest...

So much for Trump's "return to normal".

Hey, I don't get it. Trump said we would be back to pre-COVID normal by last Easter, and Pence said it would be by July.

Easter has come and gone, and July is rapidly disappearing. Do you think they might have been wrong?

Perhaps it is possible that all of the efforts to flatten the curve
did the one thing that some of us wondered about the tactic,
that it pushed cases out into the future and now, it's the future...

Furthermore, you are using statements issued at a time when
THE expert Dr. Fauci was taking about masks being ineffective;
statements being made with the best possible momentary Science
following on the heels of such pronouncements as
it would be safe to go to the SuperBowl.

The truth is that we will never know if the original panic precluded
herd immunity and the virus running its normal course and I think
it is proper to wonder if virulent anti-Trump politics on the efforts
of many people exacerbated the situation by creating confusion
by advancing all sorts of contrary ideas and "proofs" that
reinforced political confirmation bias and that effort is
still ongoing, this thread being a good example...

Marxism?

You are confusing Marxism with oligarchy.

While Marxism does tend to oligarchy,
it is clear that it is being advanced
by the people behind the protest
movement and the new terminology
of "systemic" Racism and they abandon
their former claim of institutionalized Racism.

Marxists do love to redefine things
and reframe them...

Sounds like you have already ceded control of the nation to "the people behind the protest movement", before the current oligarch has even left office!

Don't worry, the current oligarch will snatch up those people in unmarked vans, because liberty.

NPR has a culture that closely resembles that of the NYT...

"But the lessons that ought to have followed the election—lessons about the importance of understanding other Americans, the necessity of resisting tribalism, and the centrality of the free exchange of ideas to a democratic society—have not been learned. Instead, a new consensus has emerged in the press, but perhaps especially at this paper: that truth isn’t a process of collective discovery, but an orthodoxy already known to an enlightened few whose job is to inform everyone else."

Since this "pandemic" has been politicized and turned into an issue where Trump
is a villain and Cuomo a hero (despite what he did to the elderly) it is not a
stretch to assume that NPR is, indeed, presenting truth as they see it.

Thank you for your and Bari's opinion.

Some great cities have ceded control to marxist mob rule.

I suppose Florida being forced to open mobile hospitals is just another Librul HOAX

More than 50 Florida hospitals have run out of ICU beds as coronavirus cases soar
Deaths are also on the rise. Florida surpassed 100 new daily fatalities for the first time on July 9 and set a record high of 156 deaths on July 16

Three mobile hospitals to open in Florida, including one in Orlando
Separate field hospitals are set to open in Broward County and Ocala. The Broward field hospital will remain in the county, while Ocala’s can be moved if necessary.

Among the items FDEM Director Jared Moscowitz is requesting through Direct Federal Assistance are five mobile intensive care units, 5,000 hospital beds and 5,000 ventilators, to be distributed across the state.

And this is not "the flu" despite what Tricky Trumpy and the Trumptards say (here is what is happening for ICU patients):

The mortality rate is dropping, but it’s still high
Doctors are optimistic that the mortality rate is dropping, but say the current mortality rate of 42 percent is still high.

For comparison, the mortality rate for other viral pneumonias treated in the ICU is about 22 percent, the study states.

“It’s definitely still high, twice the usual mortality in ICU for viral pneumonia,” said Dr. Eric Cioe-Pen
a, the director of global health at Northwell Health in New Hyde Park, New York.

And here is the JHU tracking:
