Wear a mask!

Mandatory beginning this weekend. Stay home, wear mask, don't wear a mask and pay a $1000-$6000 fine.
Chose one.
Wear a mask WHERE?

I think that the whole world (not just the US and Canada) is now oscillating between extremes.

You have the anti-masks movement (people refusing to wear masks even in poorly ventilated crowded supermarkets)
then those who allowed back to back GF protests with no masks, while sentencing others for half of that
now you have Ohio mandating masks in open air, even when people are enforcing the 6 ft sd guidelines.

OMG Spike spikes spikes!!!

Sure... there is certainly some spikes. But how would we know the degree?

Testing has increased dramatically. The CDC publishes guidelines on including "probable" testing in the actual results. People are taking multiple tests, being tested coming in and going out of hospitals. All results are counted. Even if it is the same case. Labs are reporting 1005, 80%, 90% postivity. Impossible numbers. Admitting they are not reporting negative cases. Reporting procedures vary from state to state and lab to lab...

...

All while the deaths continue down...

...

That just stupid! Deaths lag!

Sure they do... by 10-15 days. Yet we are 5 weeks in to this spikes.

Well hospitals are overwhelmed. Capacity is exceeding 80%!!! Death and doom I say!!

First of all. 80% plus bed use is normal. If hospitals do not have 80% plus bed use they go out of business. Second, while the media screams ~80%. What they do not tell you is ~60% of that ~80% is not Covid.

For the all citizens we have a disease a little worse than the flu. For those under 65 with no comorbidity we have a disease less dangerous than the flu.

So at the end of the day. Deaths decline, mortality declines, no one is overwhelmed.

But yet it is a election year. So for a few more votes, to get the sheep in line...

We destroy the economy. depression increases 300%. Drug and alcohol use and deaths increase. Domestic violence increases. The damage we do to are kids is severe and will be felt for years.

Shame....

Preach on brother! Amen!
A Political Science molehill to mountain moment in history...

If you look at rea#####'s thread
from the inception of this issue I opined
that we were about to hand government tools and controls
over our lives that they were never going to relinquish and they show no sign of doing so.
And, again, as I pointed out, all of this was based on what we did not know
other than the media-political driven fear of the unknown...
We went through a practice run for this with AIDS.
This time it affects more people;
more power...

People in Flyover Country tut-tutted the coastal cities a few months ago, how awful those "dirty" people must be..."we don't need masks" they cried.

They're still crying, but for an altogether different reason....the Corona virus has come to the Heartland, and the Grim Reaper is having a field day.

Cool story bruh....

Brought Covid home yet?

Hey, if both of your girls need ventilators and only one ventilator is available, which one will you save?

As we have private health care, rather than national, you scenario is as false as your as your ability to be honest.

Yes, we handed control to the government when we banned drunk driving, because drunk drivers put others at risk. Now we are handing control to the government to keep asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 from putting others at risk.

The majority of people in the nation could care less how much you whine on the porn board about that. The majority of people in this nation did not want the Deplorables to take over the nation in 2016. An even bigger majority will express this sentiment in November.

When hospitals run out of ICU beds, does whether you have public or private health care (I assume you mean coverage) really mean anything as far as the level of treatment you receive?

Selling out to Communist China was not a great option.

Can't you just ask them to buy direct?

he seems to have deluded himself into thinking his private insurance somehow guarantee his family preferred access to intensive care unit beds.

Lots of white folks in middle American are slowly drowning in their own fluids in emergency rooms waiting for ICU beds still believe that.

When you compare our preparedness at the start, our beds per 100k, ICU beds per 100, etc.. was on average 400% higher than countries with national health care. IE. ~35per 100k here vs. 7 per 100k in England.

Those numbers have only approved.

We have never been and remain in no danger of running out of beds.

By design, national healthcare will never be as efficient or prepared as a private system.

You get what you pay for they say...
