Let's Hear It For The Poets

And the orgy continues. I wanted to get in on some of the Todd action and record one of his pieces, too. I really enjoyed one of his more recent poems, and thought it might be fun read in a woman's voice. He was kind enough to agree to let me have my way with it. :)

I'd Burn it All to the Ground for a Night with You

The text is already in the thread, and you can find that here.

You were right, it's interesting how the song changes with a female voice, even though the words remain the same.

Thanks for doing this calli your singing brought the words to life.

That's very kind of you to say, thank you. I've never taken on a challenge like that before, and I'll admit to holding my breath and having to talk myself into posting it. So, I'm very glad you like it. :)

I remember that from the See, Say, Read, Write thread, the way different people would read something, and that was a big part of the fun, when people started adding additional recordings to different poems. Then I wonder if some readings would have been different if the person doing the second, sometimes third, version hadn't already heard the previous recording.

Thanks again for asking me to record your poem/song :)

It's finding the peace and quiet in these times of self isolation! Himself has a love of noisy Western films!

Ah yes.... the quarantine lack of privacy and time to one's self. If you're able to find any, though, we'd love to see you having fun in here, too. :)

Oh, I loved this! So glad you joined in and did a reading too :)

p.s. Haven't forgotten my poetry fun corner challenge. Hopefully, won't be much longer until I get that one done.

I have to agree with this, I don’t even recognise the piece as my write when it was read by yourself and calli. Thanks to both or you for this little gift

Thanks both, I didn't think it was my best but it's so hard to find time alone to do it.

Fabulous in the way the feminine will change up the whole piece! You gave this write a bunch of depth and cast a new light on the poem. Thank you.

Yes! I find it so interesting to hear a different voice read my poetry. Thank you Annie. I'm glad you'd like to ...

I haven't found the right one yet but on reading them you've given me so many ideas of my own! As I get older I struggle to find the right words and it scares me that one day soon I'll no longer be able to write.

I pray that will be a long time coming dear poetry sister. You have words in every breath. Don't be afraid that the simpler ones won't carry the same weight as anything more complex. Sometimes, these are the very words that floor us.

Well said. I agree and know we all have plenty of poetry left in us (if for no other reason that we are some opinionated, mouthy sisters :D ).

Thank you I hope that is so. Only this morning I struggled to find the name of Lavender. It may be the Morphine dulling my brain but I can't do without it.

hey ...

a piece by a musician friend of mine:

Don't Want My Baby

don't want my baby, walk out that door.
cuz if you do, don't want you--, back no more, baby.
Baby, baby,
Baby don't go out that door.

little miss muffet, sat on her tuffet
while I sang the blues night and day.
'long come a wolf spider, lay down beside her --,
he said hey, hey!, baby sho tasting good today.

And she was gone--!, on, the very next train.
if you so inclined you should do the same.
But baby, baby, baby, baby don't go out that door
I said--, baby, baby,
Baby don't go out that door.

(sound of door slamming!)

Bitch!
