Superstore giant Walmart is testing out a new policy replacing all cashiers at one of their stores with self-checkout kiosks, and they're considering doing it all over the country.

The increase in self-checkout kiosks may have important ramifications for the nationwide minimum wage debate. Walmart is the largest private employer in the world with 2.2 million employees, and also the largest in the United States, with 1.3 million workers.

Automation taxes are coming, as is increased taxation of the super wealthy.

Automating jobs out of existence without consideration for people will lead to more of what we have seen recently.

Let us know when it happens.

Sorry Comrade.....not anytime soon in these United States. :D

You're not entitled to my shit just because you can't figure out how to hustle your own.

When self-checkout works it is great. When the system goes down, terrible. There is no ability go to plan B. Airlines went to kiosks decades ago, and I had the misfortune of having a flight when the kiosks went down. Huge lines for the 4 poor agents.

I think the scariest thing about self-checkout is that mirror that shows the top of your head where the security camera tracks your scanning.
I mean, I knew I was getting bald up there, but man ...

I'm not the leftist here who thinks they are entitled to others shit just because they exist, I grew up and got a job 20 years ago LOL :D

I'm retired and worked for 30 years in a branch of law enforcement. I've seen the cause and effect relationship between poverty and antisocial behavior. Keep exacerbating the wealth gap and see what happens.

The magic 8 ball says "the outlook is not good".

And here you are hoping to get taxed out of retirement???

Why??

Oh I think anyone paying attention has.

Keep exacerbating the wealth gap and see what happens.

The magic 8 ball says "the outlook is not good".

The cry babies and losers chase the productive people out of town and the cities become prisons of the poor?

Yea....not really my problem.

Not being poor is a matter of figuring out your own hustle, ruin that and the USA's poverty problem is going to get really bad.

Why do you think the answer is making some people less wealthy? What does that accomplish?

It makes the fee fees all better.

The mentality of "If everyone can't be rich NOBODY WILL BE!!!" that the left is always about is because of the fact that overwhelmingly they feel...they don't think.

My explanation was in the comment. Poverty most often leads to bad outcomes in all areas of life. The more poverty, the more bad outcomes. One of the bad outcomes of poverty is increased antisocial behavior such as crime, rioting , looting, and murder..

Some of the ultra wealthy are starting to recognize the danger, but it may already be too late. Much like a runaway greenhouse effect, once certain conditions reach a tipping point a cascade effect occurs.

Of course, many of the doomsday peppers are rooting for those conditions to materialize, because they want anarchy and a chance to live out a real life purge. Why do you think they love their military "hunting" rifles so much. The religious doomsday cults aren't much better because they are rooting for the "end of days" so they can be "raptured."

If something isnt done to address the looming poverty crisis in the US, the doomsday coalition just may get their wishes.

Getting a job and acquiring wealth is an antisocial behavior. We live in bizarro world, socialism is a t our back door!!!

Got to love the IDIOTS with 50+ items in their basket and takes them a half an hour doing it themselves as they are technology challenged.

Verses a cashier would do it 3 minutes.

End the lockdowns for people trying to work the same way some have for rioters.

Let people conduct bidnizz....

Poverty crisis averted.

Converting from capitalism to socialism will get ugly! Wealth distribution will ruin our country, equality of equity will destroy self worth and ruin the intrapreneurial spirit of our country. Self entitlement is evil, leads to a dependent society totally dependent on government handouts. Sooner or later politicians will run out of other peoples money.

Maybe you didn't notice, but before the "pandemic" something was being done. Unemployment was down to the people who suck at life. If you wanted a job, you had a job. If you could manage your money you could get along, especially with all those safety nets out there.

The leftist rallying cry is wealth and income inequality and in blue states and cities getting votes using that platform works! And how are those blue cities and town doing today, 50 years of democratic mismanagement and rule and most are almost all burnt to the ground. Caution, when they run out of blue territory they're coming to a town near you.

Texas has been almost Californicated. If the (R)'s don't get their fucking head in the game they're going to lose their most valuable state.

Except all the safety nets were falling apart, student loan debt was out of control, another housing crisis was looming, Trumps tax cuts for the rich resulted in record deficits, and the stock market was broken and no longer matched reality. Many of the jobs were low paying with few benefits and the huge gift that Trump gave to the rich was just another insult to the working class.

Keep putting lipstick on Trump, he'll still be a pig when you're finished.

Safety nets are state issues.

As for student/housing debt? Stop the bullshit government programs that are enabling all this bad paper writing.

The tax cuts were for everyone who makes enough to actually be paying income taxes.

This has less to do with Trump than you're trying to make it out to be.

Congress again, is behind most of this crap.
