I'm really curious about this. It is illegal to commit murder. If I write about murder or make a movie about murder, I can get famous and maybe rich.

Underage porn. Defiantly illegal from any perspective. I see that there are very strict rules regarding stories - No characters under 18.

We get to incest. It is illegal as far as I know in every states to different degrees. It seems to be one of the most popular categories. In main stream society, I don't think there are many novels or movies about incest. So is society secretly interested in incest? No one wants to admit it?? I am wondering why its not treated like child porn. Or is it? I am curious why it is not lumped in together with child porn.

Why is it legal to write stories about some illegal activity and illegal to write about others?

I'm no expert on this, nor am I into it. I did find this though:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_incest

I think the main reason that incest is frowned upon is that if a child is produced, the child could be born deformed. We had a cat who didn't get fixed in time. She mated with her father, the only unfixed male cat in the area. All babies were born deformed. Two heads, three legs, five legs... One looked fine on the outside but died less than 24 hours after it was born.

I don't know how common incest fantasies are. Outside of here and the Jerry Springer show, I've not heard much about it except for cases of child abuse.

I used to be a Mod. at Bianca's Smut Shack, and for as liberal as they were, we were instructed to remove such posts. I remember one guy posting only in the fantasy realm. He called it mild Mother/Son. I had to delete it.

...

That is not a LAW. That is one of the few restrictions Literotica insists on. It is set by the owners of teh site.

You can write underage porn and post it elsewhere but not on Literotica.

Visual porn might be an offence in some jurisdictions but the laws vary.

I can understand why Literotica doesn't want stories about sex with people under 18s.

There is a significant body of puritan feeling in the US that would be happy to target any website promoting 'kiddy-porn' and they are well financed and supported. If they saw Literotica as a target they could make life very difficult by seeking injunctions and prosecutions. While there are other sites allowing much more expilict stories, Literotica is safe-ish.

In a way, you’re answering your own questions. There are many things considered illegal by a variety of different state laws, but consensual sex between adults (who are related by blood lines) might be illegal in a particular state, but no one much cares. But sex between a child and an adult is not only illegal pretty much everywhere, and most people DO care about children being abused.

And as far as this website goes, it’s a privately owned site. Their rules are not law, per se, but they have a legitimate ability to control content of their property. They don’t allow child porn, nor under age (of consent) incest comments or stories. FWIW, I think that is a wise choice.

It's not illegal to write about anything. Writing about something isn't the same thing as doing it--or even depicting it visually. And writing it isn't the same as choosing to host it on a Web site.

The worry is that the authorities could not only crack down on the site for producing child porn- but they could conceivably subpoena the individual authors of such stories, by obtaining the list of site members- and subsequently go after them. Post a child-porn story, and you would not only get the site shut down, but then you might find the cops knocking at your door with a warrant to sieze your computer. Or the nightmare scenario: They could even take it further, and once they declare it a child porn site, go after ALL authors and contributors who post stories here, regardless of story content.

Yup! Could not agree more.

In some states, it's illegal to have sex with your neighbour's horse but not your wife's daughter. Other states are populated entirely by the offspring of incestuous relationships, so much so that settlers are given a 'Voluptous paternum inflagrato' lit. your father has a duty to inseminate order by the High Wizard and their cabin burnt down if they refuse. We are disciples of the church of Lit and we welcome the heel of our goddess Laurel on our face. So, other than, that most things go. I hope this helps, sister and welcome to the coven
