Well kid hasn't worn socks in weeks, so there is less. Hubby has like 100 pairs of the same socks, so i don't pair them, he just grabs too. i also have a small laundry basket full of mine and the kid's single socks as well as single items of pajama pairs sitting and always waiting for the next loads odd item. Sometimes i can indeed find the match in that basket. Like missed it under a bed two weeks in a row then finally found it. Also, 2 of the cats like to kill socks and carry them around the house showing their hunting prowess. Thus socks end up in odd places

We have some kind of singularity in our dryer since socks tend to just vanish into thin air.
