It's really hard to say at this stage, but these are the on the ground reports we've been hearing from both officials and protesters. That many of the agitators are from outside the area.

The issue I have with what you're saying is that you (rightfully) believe that the mob would have "dispensed justice" by freeing the arrestee and harming the officers. This is because people are stupid and aren't being taught what they SHOULD be being taught.

In a correctly operating society, what SHOULD have happened is that the crowd stop the illegal acts caught on tape until the situation was stabilized and support arrived to ensure that the arrestee was taken into custody without further harm or incident. Not giving summary justice, instead ensuring that true justice would take place.

Our society has deteriorated to the point that we see only the use of force instead of the exerting of control. The people exert control because the police and the government only govern by consent. When the governance exceeds that which is consented to, the people must take back their control until those tasked with governance conform their actions to what is consented to.

That is not "mob rule".
