Las Vegas mayor’s approval swirls down the drain after she demands casinos reopen during pandemic

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, who last month infuriated many casino workers when she demanded that the Las Vegas strip reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic, has seen her approval rating go down the drain.

Results from a new poll published by the Nevada Independent show that Goodman’s overall job approval now stands at just 32 percent, with the number who disapprove of her job performance at 58 percent.

Another passenger on the Trumptanic!:D

‘Narcissism and solipsism’: Paul Krugman explains how ‘whiny, childlike’ Trump ‘grossly minimized the pandemic and its dangers’

A recurring theme in economist Paul Krugman’s New York Times column is that is wrong to single President Donald Trump out as being uniquely bad among Republicans — that he is a reflection of the modern-day GOP on the whole. This week in his column, Krugman asserts that Trump’s coronavirus response is terrible but stresses that he is being encouraged by all his Republican enablers.

“Disdain for experts, preference for incompetent loyalists and failure to learn from experience are standard operating procedure for the whole modern GOP,” Krugman asserts. “Trump’s narcissism and solipsism are especially blatant, even flamboyant. But he isn’t an outlier; he’s more a culmination of the American right’s long-term trend toward intellectual degradation. And that degradation, more than Trump’s character, is what is leading to vast numbers of unnecessary deaths.”

TrumpubliKKKunts just fuck up the works!

Congress Sets Up Taxpayers to Eat $454 Billion of Wall Street’s Losses, Where is the Outrage?

Beginning on March 24 of this year, Larry Kudlow, the White House Economic Advisor, began to roll out the most deviously designed bailout of Wall Street in the history of America. After the Federal Reserve’s secret $29 trillion bailout of Wall Street from 2007 to 2010, and the exposure of that by a government audit and in-depth report by the Levy Economics Institute in 2011, Kudlow was going to have to come up with a brilliant strategy to sell another multi-trillion-dollar Wall Street bailout to the American people.

The scheme was brilliant (in an evil genius sort of way) and audacious in employing an Orwellian form of reverse-speak. The plan to bail out Wall Street would be sold to the American people as a rescue of “Main Street.” It was critical, however, that all of the officials speaking to the media repeat the words “Main Street” over and over.

It was decided that Larry Kudlow would first announce the plan at the White House press briefing on March 24 followed by an unprecedented appearance of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell on the Today show on March 26.

This is how Kudlow explained the program that was going to be tucked into the stimulus legislation known as the CARES Act at the White House press briefing on March 24:

Fuckery thy name is TrumpublKKKunt!

Eh, the Republicans spent 40 years honing their message on that one before Trump came along. They already had an awful lot of voters hoodwinked into thinking what's good for the ultra-rich is the only good thing for America as a whole. Hate to say it, but we just might need a second Great Depression before most people see how wrong that is. In the meantime, it's no surprise this administration is continuing the push for such things, but it ain't new.

Maine women turn on Susan Collins: ‘Her right and our right aren’t the same thing anymore’

Women voters who propelled Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, to wins in four consecutive Senate races have increasingly soured on the so-called “centrist” Republican as her record has drifted farther right since President Donald Trump’s election.

Maine is a uniquely women-dominated state. About 77% of women residents are registered to vote, and 65% of women voters turn out on Election Day, both the highest marks in the nation according to Politico. Collins won past elections with more than 60% support from women, but recent polls have found that more than 60% of women voters oppose her reelection. Her support among women voters under 50 has fallen to just 25%.

She similarly told Politico that she still views herself as very much “a centrist who believes in getting things done through compromise, collegiality and bipartisanship.”

But Collins’ drift to the right is undeniable. A decade earlier, she voted against her party 31% of the time, the magazine noted. Last year, that number dropped to just 11%.

Susan, the moderate Republicunt, has drifted too far to the right to be correctly aligned with the people of Maine. :)

Trump claims that he has absolute immunity, and that he cannot be criminally investigated while in the Oval Office. His lawyers contend that no matter what crimes Trump commits and no matter how much evidence prosecutors have against him, that Trump cannot be investigated or indicted until after he leaves office.

So, the Republican Party has gone from the "Law and Order" Party to the "Our Criminal is Above the Law" Party.

Chris Wallace nails Steve Mnuchin: ‘Are your rosy predictions based on reality or the November election?’

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin on Sunday insisted that his “rosy” projections about the economy have nothing to do with the November election.

“I think it’s important that we face what the real numbers are,” Fox News host Chris Wallace told Mnuchin. “The Bureau of Labor Statistics says the real number, which includes people who are not looking for work, is 22.8%. That does not include the 7 million people who have lost their jobs since then.”

“Aren’t we talking close to 25% at this point, which is Great Depression neighborhood?” the Fox News host asked.

“We could be,” Mnuchin agreed. “Unlike the Great Depression where you had economic issues that led to this, we closed down the economy. It wouldn’t be a surprise if you close down the economy, half of the workforce didn’t work.”

Great Depression cause by Wall Street excessive optimism, This Depression will be judged to be caused by Trumpublikkkunt excessive stupidity!:)

One of Lindsey Graham’s biggest backers explains why he gave up on the GOP senator

In an op-ed published in the Greenville News this Sunday, a former backer of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) explained why he no longer supports Graham and has instead endorsed his opponent for the U.S. Senate.

“I supported Lindsey Graham until 2017,” ex-Michelin North America chairman Richard Wilkerson writes. “I saw him as a moderate Republican who could work across the aisle to get positive change made. But I started having real misgivings about him when he failed to mount any significant defense when Donald Trump attacked his best friend, the late Sen. John McCain.”

Bye Ms Lindsey!:D

IDEA: What If Mitch McConnell Shut His Surly Sh*t-Mouth Instead?

PeeResident Trumpski isn't the only one being eviscerated on Terrible Tuesday! Wonkette is on it!

Mitch McConnell would like to talk about decorum, please. In related news, Mitch McConnell needs to go fuck himself.

During a very important appearance on the Lara Trump Internet TV Program For People Who Married Eric Trump On Purpose, McConnell was very displeased at President Barack Obama for daring to open his mouth and criticize Dear Leader Shitmouth Cheez Whiz Face Jones about his shit coronavirus response and his shit attorney general Bill Barr letting Michael Flynn lie to the FBI for free. You see, Obama's comments violated McConnell's sense of decorum, that's right, his sense of decorum. Well guess what, Moscow Mitch, why don't you cram a tiny teaspoonful of shit up inside your turtle shell so you can eat it with your tiny turtle mouth?

Oh golly, Wonkette seems to have lost its well-known decorum for a moment there!

:)

If this ‘doesn’t give you chills I don’t know what will’: McConnell’s Patriot Act expansion would hand Bill Barr unprecedented spy powers

“These amendments would pretty much guarantee the ability of an incumbent administration to spy on its political opponents without consequence.”

Sen. Ron Wyden was joined by privacy advocates Wednesday in forcefully condemning a new proposed amendment to the PATRIOT Act put forward by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that would greatly expand the U.S. attorney general’s surveillance powers under FISA.

The 10 Democrats who joined GOP in defeating amendment to stop FBI warrantless surveillance of web browser history: Carper, Casey, Feinstein, Hassan, Jones, Kaine, Manchin, Shaheen, Warner and Whitehorse. Joined 2 Republicans & a Democrat in not showing up to vote: Bernie Sanders

“These amendments would pretty much guarantee the ability of an incumbent administration to spy on its political opponents without consequence,” wrote Charles Pierce at Esquire.

The ten Dem's should be ashamed of themselves. Diane is a war mongering DINO as is Manchin.

‘Go back to work’: GOP’s Jim Jordan shoots down additional help for struggling Americans

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Thursday shot down a proposal by House Democrats to deliver more relief to Americans struggling financially during the COVID-19 pandemic, while suggesting the best solution was to “go back to work.”

During an interview with Bloomberg, Jordan said that Americans had successfully stayed at home and flattened the infection curve to avoid overwhelming the country’s hospital system.

Shouldn't Gym Jordan be out kissing babies and pressing the flesh? If he wants to keep his place at the trough, otherwise he's gonna need a new job.:)

GOP Senate aide: ‘Not sure you’d have a lot of complaints’ if Trump lost and Republicans held Senate

An anonymous aide for a Republican senator tells The Atlantic’s Peter Nicholas that many GOP senators wouldn’t be too unhappy to see President Donald Trump lose so long as he didn’t take them down as well.

According to Nicholas, some Republicans find putting up with Trump “exhausting” and could tolerate serving under a President Joe Biden.

“I don’t think people are freaking out that it’s the end of Trump,” the unnamed Senate aide said. “They’re freaking out about [whether] it’s the end of their majority or their career. If Trump goes down and goes down big, that means you lose a lot of congressional seats and Senate races.”

The aide added that “if you had Biden elected and a Republican Senate, I’m not sure you’d have a lot of complaints… they’d be able to adapt to that world.”

Yes I believe that is true. Some might even breath a bit freer with Trump in prison.:)

‘Be careful what you wish for’: Lindsey Graham shoots down Trump’s request to haul Obama into the Senate

This Thursday, President Trump took to Twitter to call on Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to call former President Barack Obama into the Senate to testify in the alleged “Obamagate” scandal. But according to POLITICO’s Andrew Desidero, Graham was having none of it.

“If I were a Senator or Congressman, the first person I would call to testify about the biggest political crime and scandal in the history of the USA, by FAR, is former President Obama,” Trump tweeted. “He knew EVERYTHING. Do it @LindseyGrahamSC, just do it. No more Mr. Nice Guy. No more talk!”

“I don’t think now’s the time for me to do that,” Graham reportedly told Desidero. “I don’t know if that’s even possible.”

“I understand President Trump’s frustration, but be careful what you wish for,” he added.

What if Trump were called to explain himself in front of a Democratic controlled Senate in 2021?:)

Two days after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled what would be Congress’ fifth and largest package for nursing the dormant economy through the emergency, McConnell, R-Ky., said Democrats had produced a “seasonal catalog of left-wing oddities and called it a coronavirus relief bill.“

Provisions he singled out for criticism included a rollback of GOP-passed tax increases on residents of states with high taxes, language making it easier for people to vote by mail and what he called “the cherry on top” – provisions helping legal marijuana businesses.

“This is a totally unserious effort,” he said.

Oops, wrong link. That was about the Senate tax bill with handwritten notes on it. Here's the link: https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2020/may/14/mcconnell-hits-democrats-totally-unserious-relief-/

"You complain about process when you're losing, and that's what you heard on the floor tonight," McConnell said.

Kentucky’s secretary of state got his ‘head taken off’ by fellow Republicans for making mail-in voting easy

Kentucky’s secretary of state revealed that he’s been lambasted by fellow Republicans for planning to send out instructions on voting by mail.

Secretary of State Michael Adams told NPR that he got his “head taken off” by other Republicans for backing absentee voting, although he realizes that he’s partially to blame for public skepticism.

“It’s partly on me because I talked about it in my campaign,” said Adams, a former staffer for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Vice President Mike Pence. “But it’s my job now to calm people’s fears.”

Vote By Mail = No more Rethuglicunts! WIn WIn!:)

‘I clearly made a mistake’: Mitch McConnell admits to Fox News that he misled Trump supporters

On Monday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) falsely claimed that the Obama administration did not leave the Trump administration “any kind of game plan” for a pandemic.

The Republican Senate leader, who is facing reelection in Kentucky in 2020, made his comments on Monday’s “Team Trump Livestream.”

McConnell was fact-checked for his false claim by former Obama administration Ebola czar Ron Klain.

Ronald Klain
@RonaldKlain
We literally left them a 69-page Pandemic Playbook.... that they ignored

And an office called the Pandemic Preparedness Office... that they abolished.

And a global monitoring system called PREDICT .. that they cut by 75% https://twitter.com/DJJudd/status/1259999110188412928

That was confirmed by testimony from Dr. Rick Bright on Thursday.

McConnell was asked about his comments during an interview with Fox News personality Bret Baier.

“I was wrong, they did leave behind a plan so I clearly made a mistake in that regard,” McConnell admitted.

Ex-GOP congressman says he’s ‘not going back’ to the Republican Party — even after Trump is gone

On MSNBC Saturday, former Rep. David Jolly (R-FL) says he will never go back to the Republican Party, even after President Donald Trump is out of office and out of party leadership.

“I’m indicative of somebody that aligns with SAM (Serve America Movement) because, Ali, most of my fellow Never Trump Republicans will go right back to being a Republican when Donald Trump is gone. I’m not. I’ve left the party and I’m not going back, but I also feel liberated by rejecting partisanship, and I’m not ready to pick up the blue jersey, if you will, the ideological blue jersey. But I do want to see something better … nationally we’re a democracy reform organization focused on increasing competition for both parties through undoing partisan gerrymandering, stopping state support of closed partisan primaries, addressing money in politics.”

“At the end of the day, ideology is important to a lot of voters, but a lot of voters just want a government that works, that appeals to a cross-partisan coalition,” added Jolly. “COVID-19 is a perfect example. It was a missed opportunity by an unfit administration and the distracted Congress. It wasn’t missed intelligence. We need better. SAM hopes to fill that gap, not in creating a moderate ideology coalition but creating a coalition around a government that works.”

Texas Supreme Court puts expansion of voting by mail on hold

The state Supreme Court’s order comes one day after a state appeals court had allowed the expansion to stand while a legal case was appealed.

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday temporarily put on hold an expansion of voting by mail during the coronavirus pandemic.

Siding with Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Supreme Court blocked a state appeals court decision that allowed voters who lack immunity to the virus to qualify for absentee ballots by citing a disability. That appellate decision upheld a lower court’s order that would have allowed more people to qualify to vote by mail. The state’s Supreme Court has not weighed the merits of the case.

Fear and Loathing in the lone star state! Fear of Democrats voting and loathing of younger smarter voters has Texas Republicunts in a tizzy!:)

Bill Barr is covering up for Donald Trump — and posing a dire threat to democracy

Bill Barr is covering up for Donald Trump.

Trump’s first national security adviser, General Michael Flynn, had a phone call with the Russian ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak, just after President Obama had imposed sanctions on Russia for interfering in the 2016 election on behalf of Trump. Flynn “urged Mr. Kislyak in a phone call not to escalate tensions with a retaliatory move against the United States—perhaps by kicking American diplomats and spies out of Russia.” Flynn denied that the call was about sanctions, but it has become pretty clear based on new reports that what took place was “a back-channel discussion with a top Russian official that might lead to the new Trump administration gutting the sanctions its predecessor put in place to punish the Russians.”

In any other time, a national security adviser who acted this way would be considered a traitor.

But not in Bill Barr’s America.

Back in 2003, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and radio host Studs Terkel told me in an interview on my show that “hope dies last,” a phrase that became the title of his last book. If there’s an inverse to that saying, it’s that outrage dies first.

The Nations outrage is not dead, the LSM just doesn't cover it as well as they should because "Both Sides".

John Oliver: ‘The only way Richard Burr’s stock deal would be shadier is if he bought shares of actual coronavirus’

:D

Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) is under investigation for allegedly making stock trades using inside information about the coronavirus and the stock market. While Burr was being briefed on the impact the virus was having on the country and the projections, he dumped millions of dollars in stocks and then allegedly flagged it for his family.

This week he was raided by the FBI and his phone was seized. The evidence “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver found about the situation is so far “pretty damning.”

The day after Burr got a briefing on the impact of the virus on the economy, he dumped $1.7 million in stocks that mainly had to do with the hospitality and hotel industry.

“The only reason that could be any shadier is if Burr then bought a ton of shares in the actual coronavirus.”
