7 billion people on the planet, increasing exponentially. Resources are unsustainable. You should be thanking the Chinese and Planned Parenthood. Are you?

Discuss.

On an emotional level, i feel that everyone should have a long and healthy life. On a logical level, i know that removing natural selection and all population control is bad for the world. We actively cull other species that are too successful, partly because we know it leads to disease and starvation. But, morally, it's harder to say that some people should die so that others can have a better world to live in.

Thanos was right.

What are humankind's surviving natural predators? Are viruses our last opponent? (if we can hold out until the aliens arrive :))

And therein lies the dilemma dolfette. The old have to pass to make room for the new. I think we all know that intuitively but accepting that natural fact conflicts with new age thought.

What you've inferred without speaking is the burden placed on the living to try to live up to that notion of "life everlasting" without dying.

It seems that we've lost something along the way.

Cancer and obesity, in the west. Booze and burgers are the new monsters prowling in the shadows.
In other parts of the world, good ol'fashioned famine is still high on the list.

Something often confided to me by people in their 90s was that nobody should really live beyond their 70s. It's the sort of secret they hide from their families, deny in public, but confess to a nice lady with a bottle of morphine and a talent for listening.

I thought about that but those types of things are more man against himself. It's not like lions and tigers are doing their fair share anymore. :)

You're not much of a deep thinker, are you? :)

I may not be clever but i am pretty. ;):rose:
Seriously, ken, have a little more faith and less paranoia. And consider expanding your musical repertoire.
As to culling the herd? It takes a heartless society that values Florida man over Stephen Hawking. You are your typical American. Stay the fuck out of my sandbox and we're golden. :)

Nature has a way of dealing with such problems.
