I had a problem with that about an hour ago. I waited a while, tried again, and all was well (including the story side).

On the other end of things I haven't been able to log out in over a year. I can on my phone, but if I log out here, then come back, I'm logged in again.

If you are logged in on the story side of the site, it's forever unless you logout over there on the same machine you used to login. Kind goofy, yet kind of cool.

Try shutting down your browser and clearing your cache. that might help.
