What do you call an aircraft carrier captain concerned for the safety of his crew?

Sounding the alarm using the chain of command.
Now that people explained it to me and I read about the tension in South China Sea, I, too am with you guys on this.

But the fact that Crozier broke protocol and thus could have endangered the Navy and needs to suffer consequences, doesn't automatically exclude the fact that his superiors might have

a. botched up by ordering a ship in which people are packed like sardines, to do a 4-days "cultural exchange" in an Asian country. In the midst of a pandemic!
I assume that all the children and laypeople they took selfies with were pre-tested, but the test yields false negatives too.
b. mis-managed the subsequent outbreak on the ship.

Waiting for another patronising explanation from someone, about how Crozier broke protocol and endangered the Navy.
Yawn...:)

Can't exactly do that when the crew is coming down with a highly transmissable virus in close quarters, now can he?

Yes he can. You treat the sick the best you can and those who are capable of standing their post, do.

You request help/instruction through the proper channels and await your orders.

It's called discipline....probably never heard of it. :D

Sounding the alarm was the correct thing to do to get help and "get his ship and crew ready."

Dumb fuck

Not the way he want about doing it, if you knew anything about the military AT ALL you'd understand why.

You're out of your element Donnie....

Sometimes it doesn't work. He did what he felt he had to do for his crew and that is very admirable. But he still needed to be fired for it. I'm very sure he knew that.

Jumping the chain of command because you don't think it works is unacceptable behavior. It opens the door for any officer who doesn't believe in the chain of command to go outside it. The chain of command is the preeminent form of communication in the military. Military operations are a complex series of commands and actions based on situational awareness, where the decisions that are made strengthen the unity of command, consolidate and direct combat power and resources to the objective and eliminate confusion. Violating comsec exposes the force regardless of how well intentioned it was. A carrier group has a chain of command that goes right to the head of naval ops and dep of navy. Remedy for his situation was already in progress. I'm sure politics will cloud this investigation. He had a one star just down corridor from him, his boss. I'm sure he felt his decision was a correct one and took a hit for it. There is a lot of politics at the admiral level, we'll see what turns up. I believe he was relieved of command and not fired.

On please. He wasn't fired for violating the Chain of Command. He was fired because the Infant in Chief doesn't like anyone telling the truth, period.

Oooh, fire the captain trying to save his crew. Pardon the fuckwad who commits war crimes.

No, I think Obama was well within his purview to authorize all those drone strikes.

i think the word we're all forgetting is "human".

In all fairness, we don't yet know that.
Waiting for the investigation results to see
--whether he did it after he tried several official channels unsuccessfully (thus assumed he'll get nowwhere that way)
--or whether he didn't

There are reports here this Monday morning that Crozier himself has tested positive. Haven't seen confirmation yet though.

Trump wasn't involved in the decision to remove him from command. That decision came from someone lower than the SecNav because it's not the SecNav's job to hire/fire military personnel.

The guy fucked up and showed his lack of mettle when things got tough. His job is to ensure that the ship is capable of going to war at any time. If that means he has to sideline some of his crew and request replacements through proper channels, then that's what he does.

There is no guarantee that his request will be granted in whole or part. Because, ship of war and sometimes there isn't enough available manpower to go around.

The ship commander is required to do what he can with what he has, up to and including laying his life on the line. That goes for every member of his crew as well.

You can screech "ORANGE MAN BAD!!!" all you want....facts is he was fired for violating CoC among other things he shouldn't have done.

Had he not been an O6, he probably would have been subjected to UCMJ action and thrown the fuck out.

Oooh, fire the captain trying to save his crew. Pardon the fuckwad who commits war crimes.

Awwwwww someones mad their Jihadi comrade got smoked.

LOL, yes.....military killing bad guys is good, breaking military discipline bad.... 100%. The fact that you don't understand that is more proof of your total disconnect from reality.

Hopefully 4 more years of Trump will give you the opportunity you need to re-connect with the reality that exist outside the radical lefty mediasphere fantasy.

The "ORANGE MAN BAD!!" NPC you're talking to doesn't understand or care about any of that.

It has NO FUCKING CLUE what the US military is, how it operates or what it's objective is as an organization.

The only thing it knows is "ORANGE MAN BAD!" .

Unfortunately you're dealing with the walking brain dead. The explanations are out there but nothing matters other than OMB and TDS LEVEL 10, Trump is responsible for covid and everything else that's bad. Now Nancy is putting together another panel to investigate Trump's handling of covid. The hypocrisy is past maddening.

When taking out Soleimani is considered a war crime, these people vote?

'She was on film 24FEB2020 telling everyone to go out and visit Chinatown in response to Trumps RACIST travel bans.

LOL.....what the fuck was she doing to handle covid??:D

Bet not a single (D) cares or will ask her, orange man bad.

Every one of them a (D)emocrat....cheering hanoi Jane and cursing evil Trump for murdering their beloved Gen. Salami and thousands upon thousands of poor innocent jihadis.

Anytime the military does its job it's a fucking war crime to them, just like having borders and exercising any sort of control over who/what comes into the USA is considered fascistic and ICE/CBP regularly compared to Nazis by these same lunatics.

One wonders why they don't fucking leave and flee to one of the oh so much better places like....Iraq, Cuba, Iran or N. Korea.

de Blasio basically did the same in NYC, Cantrell sanctioning the Mardi Gras parade, both hot spots but neither took responsibility for their actions whether direct or indirectly, Trump Bad, OMB TDS on steroids and no one holds them responsible, Nancy provides cover by initiating investigations or taking credit for the recovery act followed up by her lunatic comments. It's insanity!

You being military understand the threat of NBC, ESPECIALLY the introduction of a biological agent using terrorist to spread a pathogen. But open borders is acceptable, again it's insanity. What's happening now could be the template for the next terrorist attack.

No he wasn't. He was fired because Trump didn't like anyone giving the impression he doesn't have this "totally" under control, and thus, for telling the truth.

LOL at the simple minded idiots trying to palm off the propaganda they believe.

LOL at Mr. Freedom and Liberty becoming a Trump bot.

Whatever Dear Leader says is now what Bot Boy believes. Ha ha ha ha ha:devil:

Trump didn't sack him.
That was done by his peers to protect the reputation of the Navy

 :(

I surmise that this official is a colossal liar:

Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly said he “had no discussions with anyone at the White House prior to making the decision” to relieve Capt. Brett Crozier, according to a report on Sunday.

Navy sources had said that Modly told a colleague President Trump wanted Crozier fired. Modly told the Washington Post that he wanted to make the move before Trump ordered the captain out.

“I didn’t want to get into a decision where the president would feel that he had to intervene because the Navy couldn’t be decisive,” Modly said, according to the paper.

“If I were president, and I saw a commanding officer of a ship exercising such poor judgment, I would be asking why the leadership of the Navy wasn’t taking action itself."

CF is suffering from covid-19's other symptoms, that being *stage 10 TDS* and delusionary psychosis, perhaps transmitted by Coati or Robby.

LOL at Mr. Freedom and Liberty becoming a Trump bot.

Trump is the most liberal candidate running in 2020.

And (R)'s both in platform and composition of politicians are more liberal than the (D)'s.
