Anyone else catch Trump's virus team White House press conference at noon today (Saturday) and see in it a president as chastened as he's likely ever to be and more of a regearing to reality?
He was as careful as I've ever seen him to keep the partisanship and craziness out of it and not to be standing in the way (even wore a "USA" hat rather than a "MAGNA" one). Other than going off on the FED chief to a limited (for him--it was in response to a question) extent, he was supportive of taking this serious and seriously working on it in helpful ways and on the House action overnight.
Most important, if a bit strange, since it came from a reporter's question when it seemed like Trump was going to leave the room without taking questions, he said (whether true or not) that he'd now taken a test after all those virus positive people he's had roaming around him and allowed as how he shouldn't be shaking people's hands--especially for public view. A bow to science.
These are steps away from his dogged denial positions far into this.
This, of course, doesn't change the disastrous negative influence he's been up to this point, but what looked like a standing down effort by Trump today seems a hopeful, needed sign and administration reset.
Other thought on this?
Now if they can get those tests out there and working.
