My lords, tho' densest night and lowering mists maketh all sound and light muffled and dimm'd yet into the distance, still thy wit and great good fellowship doth illume a path through the gath'ring murk

Hast thou not noticed that the sound
muffles in the mist ?

In th' distant realms of my mem'ry are visions of lying beside a dimpled lass in a bosky glade, but the visions are fleeting, dear Lady, for they are so old as to be threadbare.

Contrariwise, lovely Lady, mine dim days and stone-cold heart mayhap bespeak some weakness of mind brot on by advanc'd age, but the simpler explain is mine spirit is long since crushed.
