(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump’s scrutiny by Congress won’t end with his expected acquittal in the Senate. House Democrats have a list of inquiries they plan to pursue when the impeachment saga is over.

“The investigations and oversight will continue,” said Representative Carolyn Maloney of New York, head of the Oversight and Reform Committee, the lead investigative panel in the House. “We’ve got several cases.”

Talk about a unnecessary announcement!

A penguin in Antarctica even snorted at that one!

I have NO doubt they will still be trying to punish him for winning in '16 even after he gets four more years.

it's about time THOSE people to start getting investigated.

It will give them something else to do.

They sure as hell aren't doing what they were elected to do...

no, it's pretty much exactly what we elected them to do. some of us aren't big fans of rampant corruption and fascism. i know you'll never understand that because you are willfully blind to reality and completely amoral, but it's still true.

The Reps in the Senate are quite open about the fact that Trump is guilty as charged yet they won't convict, because R. Fuck 'em.

No criminal charges... no evidence & no eyewitnesses...

Hell would have to turn YOU loose!:)

Fucking do it right next time or STFU!

We are a nation of rules and laws.

A person doesn't get to follow only the ones they agree with.

No they aren't. Typically, you inflate reality into another alien universe.

There are witnesses. The senate doesn’t want to hear from them.

The Trump administration is off the reservation and totally lawless. The house is obligated to continue to investigate and prosecute.

Understand Jomar, there is no historical precedent for the Senate to hear witnesses that have not already testified during the House impeachment inquiry. The Senate has never agreed to interview "new" witnesses that were not previously interviewed by the House. The Senate in not the investigatory branch of Congress in an impeachment proceeding. That takes place in the House.

Damn, the “do nothing Democrats” like spinning there wheels in mud. After this failed attempt to remove Trump from office, everything beyond this point will definitely be seen as politically motivated by a partisan agenda that’s only going to make Trump that much harder to beat in November.

Witness like Christine Blasey Ford?

"Yeah, I think something definitely happened and it was horrible!"

:)

You forgot to mention all the “witnesses” the Democrats had in the basement of the Capitol they didn’t allow Republicans to cross examine. You know, the ones entering testimony based on hearsay😂

One might say they're acting as if they expect to lose the house in Nov.

How should Trump react? Refuse to allow ANY administration official to testify before congress. Let them take it to the courts. :D

All the best witnesses the democrats can hire. That cat's been let outta the bag. :)

And yet he is considered guilty by members of his own party of doing what he has been convicted of, but they are to afraid of loosing their job to do their job. Keep telling me how he did nothing wrong. Because of the aforementioned mindset of the Republican Senators he will not be convicted and removed from office, but if the facts keep trickling out like they have.......

As he weighed the evidence against President Donald Trump, Sen. Lamar Alexander reached an unavoidable conclusion: Trump had done what he was accused of, pressuring a foreign power to investigate his political rival. But however inappropriate his conduct, another conviction overrode the first: Americans would not tolerate the Senate stepping in to substitute its own judgment for that of the voters fewer than 10 months before the next election.

If they try and put the nation through another impeachment they will further degrade their image among the people, who've had enough it seems. The hard left's ever shrinking base will clamor for more humiliation and their agents provocateurs in the media will cheer them on. I think this failing issue will crown what's left of the careers of Pelosi, Schiff, and Nadler.

He should do his duty to protect the presidency as the founders intended by asserting executive privilege when required.

I think that the worst/best Stage IV Democrat meltdown is yet to come. :)

Nancy hinted its beginning when she demanded some of the best legal minds in the country be disbarred. An obvious display of her callowness in the subject at hand and her lack of qualification and temperance to lead the House.

As I said, you can't name a statute, or tell us how he violates his oath "before he gets out of bed."

"What's a high crime? How about an important person hurt somebody of low means. That's not very scholarly, but I think it's the truth," Graham says in the video clip from President Bill Clinton's impeachment trial played on Thursday. "I think that's what they meant by 'high crimes.' Doesn't even have to be a crime. It's just when you start using your office and you're acting in a way that hurts people, you have committed a high crime."
