GOP senators should realize that the house is establishing an historical record of Trump's guilt. The white house effort is vapid

I suspect they understand that just fine. So it mostly comes down to what their constituents want. For the ones from the heavily red states, that would be an acquittal. I'm pretty sure it's too much to hope for even one of them to put their constitutional duty ahead of their chances in the next election.

You are right ,but there is a slim chance that some might grow a backbone .

You are entitled to your opinion, but in our society, we use the judicial system, not porn site forums, to resolve differences of legal opinion.

You're exactly right. There is no dealing with YB or SKY-PILOT, they'll twist your narrative into something other than the point you were originally trying to make. You are 100% right, Pelosi and schiff had to have a vote on impeachment immediately, it was a matter of national security and yet they sat on it for 33 days. That was nothing more than an attempt to deceive the american public and embellish the biggest bunch of bullshit I ever heard from someone as high up in government as SWAMP QUEEN. There was no national security that required immediate impeachment, that's laughable on its face. That aid that was appropriated by congress wouldn't have reach the field for several months ( sometime in 2020 ) and yet they made it sound like they were being deprived of critical aid, you know, the aid Obama never sent. The new Javelin systems would bolster the already on hand systems purchased in 2018 ( 37 launchers with 210 missiles ) which was appropriated and approved by congress in 2017 and delivered in 2018. It's a fact that the additional sales of missile systems (10 launchers, 150 Javelin missiles ) would not have altered the military balance in the region {Quoted by the State Department}.

Now the favorite color of the week is Schiffty Schiff belching out that Trump's impeachment has to happen immediately for fear that Trump will interfere with the 2020 election and the american people will be denied a fair election. The shit Schiff is piling up is sooo high and soooo deep you'd have to climb to the top of the Rockies to jump over it!

‘Where’s Justice Roberts?!’ Internet explodes after GOP senator flouts trial rules to give interview to Fox News while in session

On Wednesday evening, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) appeared to break the rules of the Senate impeachment trial by stepping out of the chamber to give an interview to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson:

Commenters on social media demanded to know why this was being allowed to take place, and why Chief Justice John Roberts wasn’t intervening to discipline Hawley — who once served as one of Roberts’ law clerks — or the rest of the Republican caucus, many of whom have slipped in and out of attendance:

Rules are not for Rethuglicunts!

WATCH: Jerry Nadler throws Trump lawyers’ words back in their faces to show abuse of power is impeachable

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) on Thursday used quotes from Attorney General Bill Barr and Trump impeachment lawyer Alan Dershowitz to argue that, contrary to President Donald Trump’s claims, abuse of power is an impeachable offense.

During his presentation before the Senate, Nadler played a clip of Dershowitz from 1998 in which he argued that impeaching a president does not require the identification of a specific crime.

Nadler then read a quote from Barr in which he made the explicit case that a president can be removed from office for abuse of power.

“The fact that the president is answerable for any abuses of discretion and is ultimately subject to the judgement of Congress through the impeachment process means that the president is not the judge in his own case,” Barr wrote less than two years ago.

Yes, Virigina, a PeeResident can be impeached for General Fuckery!:)

Trump is now bragging about his blatant obstruction of Congress – while discussing his impeachment trial for obstruction of Congress. Speaking to reporters at the Davos World Economic Forum in Switzerland Trump boasted about having all the documents – and that the House has none – because he’s blocked them from being released.

Sad night on CNN. Don Lemon and friends are convinced that Adam Schiff was brilliant. Yet the consensus is his target audience (Collins, Murkowski, Romney, Gardner, etc.) ain’t drinking the cool aide.

Interesting choice of words, given the cult leader-like behaviour Trump has been displaying from the day he announced for president.

Judiciary Chair Lindsey Graham rules out calling Hunter Biden during Trump’s impeachment trial

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has said that he doesn’t want to see the White House call former Vice President Joe Biden or his son Hunter as part of President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

Anticipating that the White House would try to justify the president’s actions, the House impeachment managers walked through all of the conspiracy theories that have been used to excuses Trump, Rudy Giuliani and Republicans have given. Trump’s lawyer Jay Sekulow told the press during the break that the Democrats opened the door to talking about the Bidens, so they fully intend to bring the conspiracy theories into the trial.

“There’ll be a lot of pressure on me to call the whistle-blower, to call Schiff, to call Hunter Biden and Joe Biden,” Graham told reporters, according to the New York Times. “I’m not going to give in to that pressure, because I don’t think it will serve the Senate and the country well, there’s ways to do this outside of this trial.”

Graham went on to say that the president isn’t happy about the trial and was “having the reaction that a normal person would have if they thought they were being accused of something they didn’t do.”

He went on to call the trial “very emotional” for the president.

One might say Trouser Filling, emotionally.:)

Fox News legal analyst bucks his network and lays out why Trump’s attack on impeachment is bogus

Judge Andrew Napolitano has been one of the political wild cards at Fox News: like his colleague Chris Wallace — but unlike so many others at the right-wing cable news outlet — Napolitano doesn’t see it as his job to reflexively defend everything President Donald Trump says and does. And Napolitano, in an op-ed published on Fox News’ website this week, takes issue with Trump’s assertions that his impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate is a “hoax.”

“His trial is not a charade or a joke or a hoax,” the libertarian judge emphasizes. “It is deadly serious business based on well-established constitutional norms.”

“What is required for removal of the president?” Napolitano writes. “A demonstration of presidential commission of high crimes and misdemeanors, of which in Trump’s case, the evidence is ample and uncontradicted.”

So if "uncontradicted" that means you're Dicked?

:D

Trump impeachment defense team may be forced to change tactics to hold off GOP defections

According to a report from Axios, Donald Trump’s defense team is considering an attempt to shorten the president’s Senate trial in order to get it over quickly as Democrats try to pry away Republican defectors.

The report states that “A truncated defense would likely reflect a decision not to contest facts or defend Trump point by point, but rather to try to diminish the legitimacy of Democrats’ overall case and end the trial as quickly as possible.”

Speaking with reporters, Trump attorney Jay Sekulow stated, “We’re not going to try to run the clock out,” before adding that he hopes to warp up “Saturday or Monday or Tuesday.”

If you can't refute, then deflect, deceive and dilute!:)

Teacher's pets, formerly Republican senators get special
privileges from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts

What do Trump defenders have ? weaksauce, hypocrisy, and whine

Rep. Adam Schiff took time away from wiping the floor of the
U.S. Senate with Donald Trump’s weak-sauce arguments,
to go in front of cameras outside of the Senate to …

...wipe the floor with the president’s weak-sauce arguments.

Speaking alongside the other House Impeachment managers,
Rep. Schiff wanted to disabuse the Republican-media narrative
that the reason there are zero witnesses being allowed into the
Senate’s trial is because of some kind of legitimate claim on
Trump’s behalf of executive privilege.

Calling it a “camouflage” and explaining that the Chief Justice has
already been empowered to make those determinations in the trial,
Schiff very adeptly and succinctly debunks what will likely be a
large part of the upcoming Trump defense.

Legal analyst rips senators for ‘getting the vapers’ and using Schiff ‘being mean’ as an excuse to vote against witnesses

According to CNN’s Manu Raju, Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), John Barrasso (R-ID), Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Jim Risch (R-ID) freaked out about a CBS News report cited by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) that a Trump confidant said if the Republicans vote against Trump their “head will be in a pike.”

Murkowski proclaimed, “that’s where he lost me.”

“Oh, give me a break!” Toobin exclaimed. “I mean, the idea that … these poor Republican senators getting the vapers because Adam Schiff was too mean to them. But the idea that they were going to vote for witnesses, but because Adam Schiff said a mean thing they’re not going to vote for witnesses — I just think that is…”

Just silly? Childish? Rethuglican?

@TheRickWilson

This horseshit faux-outrage line about being offended for being called out about being a cadre of chickenshit coward scaredy-cat pussies is fucking rich.

Irony is utterly fucking dead.

Saturday Trump's Dream Team are at bat and we shall see if they have the Right Stuff or Not. I'm betting they don't.:)

From where I sit, Nancy the "SWAMP QUEEN", is the true cult leader, the pied piper of the Dems. When Nancy plays a tune from her pipe all the brainless rats follow her in lockstep, never looking left, never looking right, all march forward without so much as an independent thought. She marches them right into their demise, their Dystopian future, a world without relevancy, never to be heard from again.

The Senate GOP is Getting Desperate

Friday morning, CBS News reported that the Trump administration is warning Republican senators, “Vote against the president, and your head will be on a pike.”

Maybe that accounts for their increasing desperation and hypocrisy. On Thursday night, CNN reported on a new set of GOP talking points: Because Trump will likely block subpoenas of witnesses or evidence in the Senate trial, they would have to go to court, which could take a long time. But that’s exactly the argument for which they’ve trashed House Democrats.

In fact, in his masterful opening on Tuesday, House impeachment manager Adam Schiff hit back at Trump’s attorneys after they mocked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for saying “we cannot be at the mercy of the courts” in the impeachment process after the Trump administration ignored multiple subpoenas as well as court rulings against it. Unfortunately, journalists occasionally parrot that line, too. Pelosi did say that, but she added: “The courts are very important in all of this. Those [subpoena] cases will continue.” She has also insisted that she “never said you cannot proceed without the courts.”

“While these lawyers for the President are here before you today saying the House should have gone to court, they’re in court saying the House may not go to court to enforce subpoenas. I kid you not,” Schiff said.

There are many reasons McConnell wants to rush this trial. One is that even if they don’t call new witnesses or receive new documents, new and damning information emerges all the time.

Since the House voted to impeach Trump, indicted Rudy Giuliani crony Lev Parnas has given impeachment investigators a trove of documents implicating Giuliani and Trump in the scheme to deny military aid to Ukraine unless its government announced an investigation into Trump’s political enemies, including former vice president Joe Biden. The impeachment managers have woven Parnas’s colorful texts and damning notes into their case against Trump.

Just last week, the General Accounting Office found that Trump broke the law by withholding the military aid that was allocated by Congress.

On Friday, ABC News reported on the existence of a recording in which Trump can be heard in a meeting with Parnas and Giuliani and other associates demanding the firing of Ukrainian ambassador Marie Yovanovitch.

“Get rid of her!” the voice that sounds like Trump says, like the mob boss he increasingly resembles. “Get her out tomorrow! I don’t care! Get her out tomorrow! Take her out! Okay? Do it!”

This is the man the Senate GOP seems to be marching in lockstep to protect. They don’t want to find their heads on pikes, victims of the ruthless political mob boss. But those up for reelection in swing states could find their careers just as dead, if voters are paying attention to the masterful case presented by Schiff and the House impeachment managers, and the craven cowardice of Senate Republicans.

LincolnDuncan writes: "GOP senators should realize that the house is establishing an historical record of Trump's guilt."

They "should realize that?" - don't you mean to say that "according to Adam Schiff" they should realize that?

YDB95 writes: "For the ones from the heavily red states, that would be an acquittal."

This is a purely PARTISAN impeachment effort! NO REPUBLICANS in the senate will vote for Schiff's clown-show-coup (not even Mitt Romney!)

bodysong writes: "Rep. Adam Schiff took time away from wiping the floor of the U.S. Senate with Donald Trump’s weak-sauce arguments"

If Schiff did a good job - as you seemingly believe - then the U.S. Senate will vote to convict Trump - otherwise, he did a piss-poor job and the president will be vidicated by the full-senate, with the Democratic Party having wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on another failed effort to prematurely end the Trump presidency!

JackLuis writes: "I hope Adam has this clip for his summation."

I don't believe that Adam Schiff has won-over a single convert to his line of thinking, Jack!

Articulate and Analytical writes: "Unfortunately, journalists occasionally parrot that line, too."

The Fake News media outlets (e.g. CNN) will report whatever the Democratic Party wants them to report. But I'm predicting that President Trump wins in the end, just like he always does! Adam Schiff has only made himself appear foolish!
