Donald Trump made Manhattan unlivable for the middle class. America is next.

A recent report came out detailing how there is nowhere in the country now where minimum wage pays rent. People are fleeing San Francisco, LA, Chicago and New York (where a huge number of expensive high rise apartments are empty).

The Democratic candidates can talk immigration and healthcare but I swear to God if one of them championed affordable urban housing they'd win the White House.

Humans are not well adapted for megacity urban living. As the apex animals, we don't function well bunched up by the millions. High rise living is particularly depressing, as can be seen in any skyscraper with vacancies, disrepair, and falling rent. Without fossil fuels to deliver massive quantities of food and power the lights, elevators, air conditioning, etc., megacities are huge piles of scrap.

I can see where having Uncle Sugar pay the rent (that worked so well with the price of "education") would enable Bernie Bros to move out of Mom's basement and free up that minimum wage paycheck to splurge on a lifestyle they would like to become accustomed to without actually earning it by adding value to society.

My old farmhouse miles from town is paid for. Very few neighbors, none within direct sight.

But I moved here from a city and other former city dwellers are coming also. I couldn't afford to buy this same house now as a result of sprawl and the resulting price increases.

I have no idea how people pay $1,000.00/mo rents or mortgages.

This is delusional.

He didn't run the middle class out of San Fransisco.

That was the ideology of people who think very much as you do.
That explains what happened to Manhattan and the exodus of the Middle Class
to places like Florida and Texas.

How about going out and working for your piece of the pie in the richest country in the history of the world? That's how it got so rich. Why haven't you figured that out?
You start taking big chunks away from people who worked hard for what they've got and give it to other people (but really you are mostly just feeding the government), pretty soon all you've got is another Venezuela.

Yes.....affordable urban housing in major cities Democrats have mismanaged for decades is CLEARLY a federal issue.

And the (D)eez won't go near the topic on the debate stage, because they and everyone who's got an IQ above room temperature knows THEY are the ones who have been managing those major metro areas for DECADES.

They simply don't have a plausible case for them to put that on anyone else.

It's ok, nobody expects old USA/freedom hating socialist to understand how money gets made.

That's why you vote for the government to go rob other people for you.

LOL isn't it??

"Look at all these cobalt blue cities (D)emocrats have been running into the ground with their NIMBY elitism and leftist policies for decades....clearly this is all the fault of one man.....the Orange Man.... he's BAD! ORANGE MAN BAD!"

Because that's hard, it's much easier to just vote for the government to put gun to other peoples heads forcing them to give up their labor, their property, their means of production.

People like BND don't even have it in them to do the robbery themselves.

"If you’re searching for an organizing principle that unites the Left, density ideology should be at or near the top of your list. Far from being a sideshow, density ideology is behind the leftist drive to cram America’s rising population into the footprint of existing cities. It fulfills the agenda of every big player on the Left. Environmentalists get to preserve open space. Social justice warriors get to experiment with forced ethnic and economic integration via mandatory “inclusionary zoning,” and investors—and this, above all, is critical—get to make a killing as the price of real estate skyrockets inside the areas where building is still allowed."

Sounds about right. Didn't Obama and his justice dept. try to force that very thing?

Utopia

That was very much one of his desired outcomes:
forcing the suburbs back into urban areas to
increase the tax base to give the money to
his "organized" communities...

Exactly, Federal micro-management of local communities. What could possibly go wrong?
