You sound mad. Was it something I said?
Not at all, I enjoy reading your comical narratives, makes me laugh.
So, right now the situation is that about one-third of America's voters elect two-thirds of the House of Lords, er, I mean the Senate. A similar lop-sided dynamic affects the electoral system for the presidential election, which is why we have had two minority-elected Presidents during the last two decades.
In a republic each state is a government unto itself and requires equal representation under a federal system. It's only a lopsided dynamic when the Dems lose. The Dems M.O. is change the system till we win. The electoral college did us well for over 200 years. It's not until the American socialist progressive movement started that you want to change what made America great. "America Great" that's a catchy phrase don't you think?
Additionally, appointment of the federal justices are essentially controlled by the President and the House of Lords, er, I mean the Senate. Thus, it is a reality that during 8 of the last 20 years, the Senate, the Presidency, and the Judicial appointments have all simultaneously been controlled by Republicans who were elected by a minority of the nation's actual voters. This is what Republicans foolishly call "a landslide mandate".
Obama judges confirmed: 329: 2 SCOTUS, 55 APPELLATE, 268 DISTRICT and 4 to court of international trade.
GWB judges confirmed: 327: 2 SCOTUS, 62 APPELLATE, 261 DISTRICT and 2 international court
Clinton judges confirmed: 378: 2 SCOTUS, 66 APPELLATE, 305 DISTRICT and 5 to the international courts
What's your point?
Well guess what? We crashed under one of those Republican presidents and are headed for another crash under the current one. The anachronisms and faults of the electoral system need to be changed via Constitutional amendment after the next crash. We have had enough of this crap. We no longer need to placate the slave-owning states of the 18th century.
Be careful what you ask for. Apparently you haven't thought through the elimination of the electoral college. The house reps lose their value of one vote and so goes the strength of party affiliation. Red and green districts disappear, party will be strictly ideology. Large blue districts that consistently vote blue may change. Many red voters don't vote in blue districts because it's a lost cause, but if you eliminate the college, all of a sudden these red votes mean something, those millions of lost cause votes could even the landscape in a populous vote. The good thing that could come out of eliminating the college is reps will be forced to interact more with their constituents than party loyalty.
Meanwhile, dry your tears and get used to the fact that Pelosi is not a mindless Fox News cult follower, you big baby.
