hum, how could this end badly for me.

pickups are one of the vehicles I hate being behind but not because how they drive, but often because how they load. even if there isn't something obviously wrong, a random empty gas can will just come flying out out of nowhere. Truth though, I probably don't have the right to judge. I remember driving down my rural highway one day, when coming towards me is the pick up, so overloaded with trees, it is like 3 cars wide. (also like 3 cars long as learned later). I am looking at this thinking, "OMG who is this idiot and why" then as I get close, I realize it is my idiot and my truck (well half my truck). yup hubby. wth man.

and next wtf moment of my day. ok there is this man who works for my company. probably has for years, but he works much further south, so I just met him last month. I met him because he had a problem, and someone recommended me as a solution. Anyway, I got him sorted, and haven't thought about him the past month. I get notifications of all employees who are terminated. in theory because I might have apps not linked to active directory or whatever. I actually don't so I don't pay too much attention. I glanced and see the guy from last month was terminated today. ok. like 3 hours later, he calls me, seeking advice because just nothing works. Can't get in to programs, databases etc and if I have any suggestions. Yeah, near as I can tell he was terminated, but no one told him. I would like to say this is the first time it has happened, but no it is not. I mean what am I supposed to say. I go with there is something wrong with your account, contact your supervisor, I can't fix it, you can't fix it, but they can request the changes needed. not sure if that is the best answer, but what the hell. that is so not in my job description.

You should work in my building. The phones have been down since Sunday (next step in the phone company going underground to try and fix) and it’s next to impossible to get a call (we have one phone where all calls are redirected for now). Anyway, that guy couldn’t reach you here. And I am very judicious with who has my cell number - and pretty guaranteed it wouldn’t be him.
I do hope though that he lands on his feet.

lol. right. this wasn't even the worst time this has happened. ok, we had an employee, whose boss works in another state, same with the boss's supervisor. However, I am friends with the boss's supervisor. Phone, social media, occasional visits. Anyway, supervisor friend calls me to say they are replacing this one guy and the replacement will be in my building monday, and asked if I can show him the ropes. They had actually done the same thing with the guy being replaced, so sure. Monday roles around and the guy being replaced shows up. So I call friend, and am all "hey, come on, wth, so what do you want me to do". Well I guess Boss didn't tell him yet, so friend is all idk, I will talk to boss. So new guy shows up and still no one has talked to the guy being replaced, thus I grab new guy to keep him away. I start with a tour, and show him some things, point out what will be his office etc. Now, I have a meeting and will have to ditch newbie so I go with complete honesty. Look, the guy in your office is who you will be replacing. Do not talk to him, do not look at him. Just go hang out somewhere break room, parking lot whatever, I don't care. Should that guy happen to come near you, go the other way. Then I send newbie out of my office. What does newbie do, he goes out and specifically finds the guy he is replacing to ask him all about the job and his thoughts and such. Fucking hell. so guy being replaced comes and finds me as soon as I get out of my meeting and is all what the hell. FFS newbie, you had one duty for your first day. See that guy, stay away from him. And what is the one thing you do.... you hunt him done. So now I am required to lie and be all call your boss, I don't know nothing about nothing, I just work here.... feigning complete ignorance... in person. At least today I just had to feign ignorance over the phone.

Obviously newbie didn't make it very long either. I didn't mention my annoyance at his inability to follow basic instructions but it quickly became apparent to the powers that be that he was incapable of it At least guy he replaced followed instructions, just didn't have the competence or skill level for the job. ugh.

lol. that is a long outage. I try to not give out my cell, it failed. ya know you call one person who emails you while you are on the road. They share it with someone else, and so on. so annoying.

And yeah, he will probably be fine. for all I know it is a mistake, very common name, though no one in the company has the same name. I have seen it once before where they disabled access to the wrong person with the same name. I do not think that is what is happening here though.

NY state has many rules to what can and cannot be transported via pickups. Yeah, rules are annoying, BUT the best one is that you must at least try and cover the bed if there's something back there that can fly out. Key word: try. Glad you're safe, and you love him LOL
