The benefit of the hotter weather is that the passionfruit vine on the side of the house has gone into hyper production, so its been on icecream, over salads, and into BBQ sauces, apart from just pulling one off the vines and eating it on the spot. We use a lot of fruit in main meals and salads for flavour.
The avocado tree is also producing very well. It and the one down the road cross pollinate so it stays in fruit. I usually pick some the night before then chill them overnight for breakfast or whatever I am making. Sometimes however, Henry the resident Stimsons python that has made his home in the tree make his way inside by hiding in the washing basket that I collect the avocados in. I suspect he might have been a pet somewhere and got out a few years ago. D#2 is quite adapt at catching him and taking him back out when we hear the cats going crazy at him.
The smell of summer in WA is being helped around the house with new soap that is made of local ingredients from WA and the Northern Territory. The Bush Tucker movement of using native fruits, berries and herbs is going well. The Ord River and Lake Argyle have huge sandlewood plantations supplying the world market.
The house has a lot of frangipani trees in the garden. They shade the gardens in summer and when they lose their leaves allow winter sunlight in. The small one out the back has just come out in its pink/red/orange/white flowers and fills the garden with coconut-like fragrance. We have giant white ones out the front with the typical fragrance, and tall pink flowering ones along the sides that are up above the roof line now.
I made it to 10:30 this morning before being forced to put some pants on. I would have preferred to go the whole day without, but there is a gaggle of girls coming over to live in our pool and eat me out of house and home. So here is my bum coming at you from the warm climates.
