Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama delivered an impassioned plea to the African-American community Saturday night to help stop Donald Trump, saying he would consider it a "personal insult" to his legacy if black voters didn't turn out for Hillary Clinton.

Addressing the Congressional Black Caucus gala for the last time as president, Obama warned that while his name would not be on the ballot in November, all of the progress that the country has made over the last eight years was on the line.

"If I hear anybody saying their vote does not matter, that it doesn't matter who we elect -- read up on your history. It matters. We've got to get people to vote," Obama said. "I will consider it a personal insult -- an insult to my legacy -- if this community lets down its guard and fails to activate itself in this election. You want to give me a good sendoff? Go vote."

In Andrew Johnson's case, a slave-owning southerner (right through most of the Civil War) right after his base lost a war, impeachment was pretty much a given on that basis alone. Trump has had to work really, really hard at trying to destroy the union to be impeached in his first term. Not sure why it would be a surprise that it's happening. That was the joke--how long to impeachment?--when he entered office on a minority win engineered by the Russians.

They are responsible for the burden of proof, they, and they alone have jumped from one allegation to another ( throwing shit against the wall ) and ran out of time. The Dems are acting as prosecutors and have settled with these ambiguous charges which have no statutory legitimacy. Not one statute has been cited. I KNOW! it's a political process but the process has to have some semblance of high crimes and misdemeanor to at least lend legitimacy to the process and should be cloaked in law or it's a fool's errand.
