House Impeachment Hearings

Isn't intent to receive a bribe corrupt intent?

The salient point is "corrupt" intent. Charging a a person with bribing a public official under the statute requires proof of 5 essential components, (1) it must be a public official; (2) the defendant has "corrupt" intent; (3) proof that a benefit-"anything of value"-given, offered, or promised to the public official; (4) proof of a relationship between the thing of value and some official act (or fraud or omission of duty); and (5) the relationship must involve an intent to influence the official in carrying out the official act (or to induce the fraud or omission of duty.

After reading the article, which by the way is the biggest bunch of contrived bullshit I've ever read, then reading your opinions, I am almost without words. That anyone who professes to be intelligent could believe any part of what was said by the author, or spout the idiotic dooms day forecasts that you two do scares the shit out of me. It is no wonder Trump has the support he has when people believe this kind of crap.

So it's your prognostication that there will be a revolution and blood in the streets if Trump is impeached? That the city and country folk will be at each others throats? From what you have said you must believe that the entirety of the farmers in our country will either let there crops rot in the field or burn them so that the city folk will be starved into submission. So how will all those farmers pay their bills? Or are they going to burn the banks too?

It is beyond my imagination to picture such stupidity.

Fuck....just fuck.....

Comshaw

We will buy our food from South America. Like China now does.

LMAO!

@realDonaldTrump: Tell Jennifer Williams, whoever that is, to read BOTH transcripts of the presidential calls, & see the just released ststement from Ukraine. Then she should meet with the other Never Trumpers, who I don’t know & mostly never even heard of, & work out a better presidential attack!

@clmazin: Jennifer Williams is an aide to Vice-President Pence. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1196155347117002752

How does one prove corrupt intent?

For starters, Warren will not win the primary. Anyone who believes so needs hospitalized.

Second, he's right. That you choose to not believe it doesn't mean he isn't correct. There are many people who will stand up to an oppressive government that attempts to unlawfully confiscate their property and suppress their freedoms and liberties. Warren's announced proposals do exactly that. To the point that even Bernie acknowledges that what she's proposing is in fact unconstitutional.

So no, it's not a "right wing fantasy", it's fact. The political battle plans have already been drawn. The first step is to ensure Trump is reelected.

That, "dear boy", is how you actually win a war.

I don’t know about being hospitalized for believing Warren will win the primary, but they may need to have a mental examination😂

Ah, cut the orange fella some slack. He’s probably tweeting while jacked up on meds from his medical emergency.

Pence's own office tonight sent out a release stating that Williams was a "state department employee", which indicates she's been kicked out of the White House Club.

We already buy a lot of food from South America, especially Chile.

The worst part about Trump's tariffs is that it made it economically viable for Brazil to develop a soybean industry, from acreage to transportation hub to processing, from the ground-up.

When Trump's successor finally rolls back these ill-advised tariffs, Brazil will still be there, an equal competitor for global exports. Soybean farmer profit margins will never be the same again. Amercian soybean farmers are seriously fucked.

Another Deplorable threat of civil war

Here's an interesting read.

4GW impeachment

This article is another example of the right wing threatening civil war if things don't go their way. This time it has to do with impeachment of an autocratic President who "feels" that he should not be subject to the provisions the Constitution.

It is highly likely that Trump will be impeached, for reasons that are obvious to everyone except for die-hard Deplorables. However, due to the Deplorables holding the majority in the Senate, it is unlikely that Trump will be convicted.

This article is simply a threat by a higher profile Deplorable, who has some followers, in case Trump is convicted. It puts brain-washed Deplorables on notice that no matter what circumstances might be involved in a possible conviction, it will be, as the author pre-judges, illegitimate.

Most Americans do not wish to have a government that bends its laws based on political or tribal threats of violence or deliberate starvation tactics. The author of this article is essentially trying to lay the groundwork for a violent revolution. His tactics reflects the basic problem with autocratic thinking.

Several Lit Deplorables in this thread go right along with this author's autocratic approach of pre-judging the outcome of the upcoming Senate process, and essentially supporting the concept of violent revolution if Trump is convicted following impeachment.

More of the same old crap.

Deplorables this. Deplorables that. Yada yada yada. It's just pathetic how deep in the TDS rut you are.

So why haven't soybean prices at home plummeted?

Soy milk is still around $8-9/gal. Tofu is $2-$2.50/lb. Soy flour is $6-7/lb.

That all is still pretty high. If the stuff is rotting in silos you;d think they'd sell it.

Prices havent dropped because of the shitty spring weather which prevented planting. Those farmers that didnt plant...also got money from the federal govt

So they didn't grow anything and got paid billions. Really great way to spend my taxes. What a fucking joke.

Well...yes and no. The total payout was huge. But no one farmer profited. They were paid enough to stay afloat...and that was about it. Now...the corporation farms...they profited...and there is no way to justify that

You should look into Farm Subsidies and see who initiated them and how long they've been around before you try and put this on Trump over the current trade tariffs.

You might be surprised at what you learn.

The left has already declared war on the right.

Corporate farms are "one farmer". The fact that they have shareholders doesn't change the fact that they plant and harvest crops. If a "corporate farm" can profit, so can smaller "one farmers" all else remaining equal.

Unless you're saying that there's some kind of unfair business practice going on in the farming industry which is squeezing "one farmers" out of business. Because if that's what you're saying, someone should look into that.

The left has already declared war on the right.

Uhhh, no. The Constitution does not define war as being the same thing as an impeachment process.

Only a Deplorable would confuse the two, in order to rationalize making an obvious threat. This bullying threat will be disregarded by the majority of people in this country.

Oh yawn.

Next time try not to confuse yourself into conflating 3 different things into one incoherent raving.

How does one prove corrupt intent?

By the presentation of compelling evidence that an official knowingly violated the customs and laws applicable to his or her office with unlawful purpose, that is with full knowledge of both fact and law. This requirement draws a distinct line between licit and illicit conduct and serves to exempt subjectively innocent people from criminal liability.

The fact you use the term "deplorable" to define half the country is in itself an act of social aggression and provocation.
