At this point, Democrat leaders know that Trump could indeed shoot someone on 5th Avenue, and the Republican Senators would still vote for acquittal. It's just who they have become as a political party. I think Pelosi wants to wrap up impeachment, and let the Senators state where they stand on conviction or acquittal for each of the Articles.

Pelosi probably would not have waited for a court process about getting testimony from first-hand witnesses like Bolton, Mulvaney, and others even if these latest eavesdropping witnesses had not stepped forward. But, it is nice to hear the testimony of these new witnesses before wrapping up what the House must do. And, Pelosi will still be able add obstruction of Congress as an Article of Impeachment that the Deplorables in the Senate will officially go on record as denying.

The July 26 call between Trump and Gordon Sondland was first described during testimony Wednesday by William B. Taylor Jr., the acting U.S. ambassador to Ukraine. Taylor said one of his staffers overhead the call while Sondland was in a Kyiv restaurant the day after Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that triggered the House impeachment inquiry.
