Gonna break my cherry on the forum here and post a question about one of my favorite things in the world, movies. Its October, meaning that there are a 1001 scary films being played on the tele, the big screen, and for sale at the store. What are some Litsters favorite horror or Halloween-related movies. Dying to know (inserting Crypt Keepers laugh here)

Those are all very good. I remember being scared senseless by The Fog as well. I snuck out of bed late at night to watch the late night scary movies on Friday and Saturday nights as a child. I was about six when I watched my first episode of Svengoolie and got hooked.

One of the more recent ones I happened to catch, thanks to a suggestion from a friend was Murderock. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea but I couldn't resist. Any chance to see a horror musical and I have got to take it. I heard that there was a copy with director's commentary on it and I have been passively searching for it. Would love to hear what Lucio Fulci had to say about his creation.

shawn of the dead is my #1

followed by zombieland

but i watch all the horror, including subscribing to shudder

im really loving the new creepshow

I am such an addict to Rocky Horror. When I was in college, I would go down to Hillsborough Street in Raleigh every Friday night and ham it up. Love it, love it love it.

Shawn of the Dead was hilariously funny and I loved that too.

Evil Dead
Army Darkness
Scream
It (all versions)

Army of Darkness is the 3 film in the Evil Dead series. It definitely needs to be watched and experienced. I highly suggest it.

i'm old, so i'm going to list oldies!

Dracula's daughter

bride of frankenstein

(i can watch those two over and over)

the seventh victim-a minor b-movie about witches in greenwich village, a val lewton film.

the original cat people-more val lewton

murders in the zoo

the original house of wax, just for the art deco lab sets if nothing else.

the lon chaney phantom of the opera

and for sci-fi horror, any and all of the 4 alien films. i binge watch them still.

Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party

Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party

This motion picture exposes the real-life horror that has been developing in the United States for many years. Very well researched and a must watch movie for anyone that loves and understands history. It is highly documented and irrefutable.

Night of the Hunter (1955) Robert Mitchum

i'm old enough that i saw that not long after it came out while i was still a child. gave me nightmares for months, especially the underwater scene of shelley winters with her hair waving in the currents. that movie is like one long bad dream that you can't wake up from.

and two more obscure films:

dust devil by one of the atenborough's, i think and a film called paper house for psychological terror. the first one is african, the second is (i think) new zealand.
