Queen - A Kind Of Magic (album)

https://youtu.be/VEJ8lpCQbyw

'80s Queen get an undeservedly bad reputation. Sure, there is more fluctuation in quality than in their stellar '70s output, but when they hit their highs, oh motherfucking my! Brian May's guitar kicks ass on this record and the immensely fat mix works for me too. Also, it helps that I like the first Highlander movie quite a lot. And even at their worst, Queen are leaps and bounds better than any current pop act. Fight me.

Queen were leaps and bounds better than 98% of most rock acts, let alone pop acts. Hall of Famers, no arguments from me :).

Got me going now...

Barcelona - Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé

Who wants to live forever
Love of My Life
Seven Seas of Rhye
Good old fashioned lover boy
Killer Queen
Good Company
Seaside Rendezvous
Tie Your Mother Down
Somebody to love

Oh, I'm on a binge now...

 Right now I am listening to the rest of the almost ten-year-old songs on the album this cut comes from: Katy Perry ~ "FIREWORK!" :nana:

I was really impressed with the number of views the official video has racked up in that time period...one BILLION, 196 million plus.

I can give you two reasons for all the views. Katy's left boob and the other one. Her music has precious little to do with that.

Heroes Del Silencio - Avalancia (album)

God, this takes me back to when I was young and cute. Saw these guys live with my then-girlfriend - and got laid right after the gig. Good times :)

I think I wore out a cassette replaying "Gimme the Prize" back in the day.

Now playing, uTube stringing a bunch of Ravel by Ormandy's old Philly. When my partner returns in an hour from hospital after wrecked-wrist surgery, I'll switch to baroque fluffery.

EDIT: Still time left, so now I'm at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXatvzWAzLU with Mike Oldfield's crew doing TUBULAR BELLS live on BBC.

Limp Bizkit - Rollin'

Hate all you want - Limp Bizkit have some killer grooves and decent riffs. I have never been a huge Nu-Metal fan, but LB have always been a guilty pleasure of mine. They try SO hard to be edgy and cool without ever reaching true coolness. But still, see above. Killer grooves and riffs plus Freddie D.'s raps are in a class of their own, cringe-wise. A good soundtrack for a party or - in my case - for a "finished a long chapter" celebration.

Bigger fan of Korn but I don't mind a bit of throwback LB from the 90s once in a while.

Right now I've been adding a lot of Live (mostly Throwing Copper) into my usual mix of AmaLee and Erock cover songs. First to Eleven and the Snakecharmer have gotten my attention lately as well.

Plastic Bertrand - Ça plane pour moi (because it's always fun to listen to what the Belgians think post-Punk sounds like...)
