Basically I have come up with a team of space-travelers who are put on a mission to collect dangerous items from across various realities (think "Rick & Morty" only a lot more serious). No, I want to do a collab with some characters I've come up with. The main theme is that dangerous artifacts have been hidden across various realities (such as Three Square Meals, Steam Punk Harlots, etc.) and a group of people have been tasked to collect them before they fall into the wrong hands.

I don't think you can use those "universes" without permission from their originators.

Ah, okay, I get you. You might be better off approaching those writers directly - they've got a niche, and might care, might not, if somebody wants to share it. As NotWise notes, you should get permission if you use their universes explicitly.
