So, I'm understandably confused. I've only been here for a few days, but... Given the massive glut of political posts flooding the General Board, what purpose does the Politics Board serve? Since politcs doesn't seem to be contained to this board, why does it even exist? Am I missing something here, or...?

Most of the losers on the right refused to move their threads to Political .

to what end?

laurel set up the political forum as an alternate (and preferable) place to post political material but was quite clear at the time that it would be up to the individual where they chose to post the same. it was an experiment, and - as you can see - this forum is still active... just as there are still people posting political material over on the GB. is what it is, but not a rule-breaking issue. reporting it is a pointless exercise wasting both your own time and admin's.

The General Board really means "anything goes." There's literally nothing off topic as long as it doesn't break forum rules.

One thing I'd add here is that this forum seems to have evolved as a place for non-GBers to discuss political matters that would be out of place in their usual "home" forums.

As to why most GBers who talk about politics never use this place, it mostly dates back to their resentment that the Politics Forum was created to begin with. We're talking about people with a well-honed sense of victimhood.
