So I've been pretty obsessed of late in the wonderful work of Owen Gray. Let's just say I've enjoyed many of an evening enjoying his collection of visual art :D

I was quite intrigued how he got into porn and wanted to find out more, I found his website and FAQs and someone had asked how to get into it/how much work/pay someone might get or something along those lines (the question isn't relevant here). His response was basically that it depended on how 'conventionally' attractive the person is.

Then I got to thinking, does attractiveness when watching porn mean a lot to you? One of the things about Owen Gray that surprises me every time I get off to his videos is that I'm not attracted to him whatsoever but his skills - oh what skills they are! - get me imagining I'm being fucked by him every time. I started to realise I hardly ever look at a porn stars face to the point it out me off, it's always a massive plus when they're easy on the eye but they could be wearing a paper bag over their head. They don't even require the usual physique I like, they just need to be good at what they do.

I'm interested to hear from both men and women on this.

Looks are definitely a plus.

I'm not attracted to ugly or fat women and women that have had to much plastic surgery - (over sized implants, oversized lips, weird looking facial features, etc.)

Or if they over vocalize their acting - the Japanese porn stars do this all the time.

And it has to be somewhat believable.

If I'm not attracted to the actress's, then I won't watch it.

Middle-aged, male

edited to add male and middle aged

Umm, interesting! And (I don't want to assume), are you male or female? I'm trying to work out if that makes a difference or I'm weird in some way :D

Conventualy attractive ??I don't know Ron Jeremy doesn't seem to fit the bill. But he made a LOT of porn..just saying:rolleyes:

I don't watch porn except if it's hubby and I together. We would normally choose a specific genre, lesbian, 3somes etc. In recent times it's been more amateur videos that would be our preference. Same types, but it's just so much more of a turn on seeing real people enjoying intimate moments rather than actors who are being paid to fake it. I really enjoy the voyeuristic aspect also, adds to the excitement.

I am with you! I so much prefer homemade videos, particularly that show so clearly the facial expressions of the woman/women involved.

That being said, when it comes to produced porn, I am not into the overly fake looking women and tend to find most of the sex scenes actually kind of boring - I much prefer the set-up, the story that leads to sex...

Interesting thread, and I'm always interested in how men and women, and then individuals, see these things differently.

I sometime watch a lot of porn and I care a lot about the attractiveness of the women.

I mostly prefer good but real looking women in porn. I don't find balloon boobs attractive, etc, but just a normal looking woman with a fit figure and good skin. Women's faces that I find attractive and expressive are a must. I'm not sure about how the women act, but I think I prefer willing and fun, like GGG (good, giving, and game), like I like in real life too.

For myself, I think I like to implicitly imagine I'm in the scene, or that the scenario is at least available to me. Maybe for that reason I don't really like to look at guys faces, and I prefer to see a cock that is sort of like mine: white, not small, and not monster.

So where's the fantasy in all of it? I guess just in numbers, with an infinity of hot GGG women waiting for me right inside of my internet.

I would think that one difference is that for a guy, most of what feels good can't be guessed at by seeing. If a woman has a warm, wet, tight, and active pussy, or is great with her tongue, you just don't know until you try, and you don't get that from a video either. I would think that for a woman, a lot of what a cock feels like can be guessed at by looking at it and seeing how the guy moves. Am I wrong?

Of course attractiveness is important. But the most important thing to me when watching porn is how much the women themselves enjoy the sex.

I'm an Alexis Texas fan not only for her great butt but also for the fact that she really enjoys sex. In one particular scene she was having a four-way with Dani Daniels, Skin Diamond, and Asa Akira in a locker room. During the scene there was a portion where she gets pushed up against the wall and then she gets eaten and fingered while standing up.

The look on her face that says she's lost herself to the sensations going through her, her body gyrating to the penetration in her most intimates of places and her legs trembling as they try to keep her standing upright is something that has always stuck with me.

I kind of like reading their stories of how they got into pornography.

I cannot think of the porn stars name, Veronica Avaluv I think, but she actually started being an actress in her late 30's or something, after she became a widow of all things. Kind of a crazy story, but I admire her brazenness.

A few others have interesting stories too, but my heart goes out to the ones taken early by drug overdoses and such. It is the downside of reading their stories I guess.

I just saw a Ron Jeremy clip the other day that was probably 30 years old. He was an attractive man then.

I enjoy a lot of homemade porn between couples that enjoy each other. I hate faked orgasms and like seeing 'real bodies' not stick thin with unrealistic, fake boobs.

The porn I watch is never the same, always different scenarios and people who look different. I'm turned on by people enjoying themselves, it's why one of my favourite porn stars used to be Gianna Michaels.

Of course attractiveness is important.

Perhaps you're right about attractiveness but that differs wildly to each person. What about 'conventional attractiveness'? I wonder if that's something that's a must for men more than women?

I think about this sometimes: he fact that there are almost no porn stars who are truly "my type".

I find lot's of them attractive in different ways but none of them look like someone I would generally choose as a girlfriend.

To get an idea of what I like look at Belinda Carlisle in the Our Lips Are Sealed video.
Not "beautiful"--at least by a consensus sort of standard, using modelling as the yard stick--but cute and fresh. natural. A little plump. High cheekbones.
Fun looking, not "sexy".

Average women not TRYING to be anything are what I like the best and those do pop up occasionally in porn. But a girl who makes my jaw drop? That's happened maybe 3 times in all my porn-using years.

I'm a man and typical in that the looks are very important for me.

It could easily be constructed as male/female difference, that men on average tend to be mostly or more visual while women are more often perceiving word through different senses, audible, scents, touch. However the main distinction here is exactly between those perception types and dominant modes not gender.

As guy I want to see the girls face and body and her reactions. A sexy body and pretty face are important too.

I’m the same on amateur porn, real sex for fun and pleasure, not scripted for money is usually much hotter. But there are some pornstars who are into the sex and get off to hard orgasms. Lilu Moon is a good example.

...One of the things about Owen Gray that surprises me every time I get off to his videos is that I'm not attracted to him whatsoever...

To me the thing about Owen Gray is not only that he's not attractive, but that he looks creepy, like one of the those artistic renderings of dead people infused with plastic resin and their skin removed so you can see the muscle structure. Does he not have some sort of disease or genetic anomaly (lipodystrophy?)?

My question to those who like him is, do you think it might actually be this creepiness that is compelling to you? For example, maybe seeing his muscles and movements so clearly, makes him seem like a pure, raw, and mechanical sex machine?

Attractiveness is a definite must.
Dolly Little, Claire Evans, Bruce & Morgan and Rlei Suicide.....
They've my "go toos" as of late.

For this guy, it depends.

In a rough scene, the woman's willingness, actions and reactions - kinda similar to the aforementioned good/giving/game "GGG" - are more important to me than attractiveness. Sure, a hot body's nice, but hot reactions are so much more critical to my enjoyment of the scene.

In a romantic scene, willingness/actions/reactions are important, but attractiveness becomes about equally important.

So, on the flip side of the coin, I have very little interest in a physically perfect "10" who has all the emotional investment of a slime mold regardless of what's being shown.

I'm a bi woman so maybe I can comment on what hubbie and I like to watch on both sexes.

I like manly men, but not too overmuscled, not steroided up gym junkie types, more like a guy who works physically hard for a living or amateur sportsman. No tats, or maybe just one or two maximum.

But I also have a penchant for much younger guys, with boyish looks, say 18-22 doing older ladies. It's a real turn on for us (we are in our 50s).

As far as the ladies go, there is no real hard and fast rules, but we both tend to be attracted to the same women. Definitely not into surgically altered women... hard to put a finger on it really, there is just a "je ne sais quoi" of what gets us aroused. It's the overall package, but probably mostly slender fit looking women much like myself.

That's a good theory. I never, ever look at his face as I'm kind of repulsed by him, he's too thin for my liking and I tend to just watch what he's doing rather than his body (apart from his amazing cock, of course) than anything. It's more about the enjoyment and reaction of his female co-star. I'm just more about the physical reactions, although most porn stars I do not find that unattractive.

Exactly this! I can't remember the last time I saw a man or woman who I've felt that way about! I'm not sure it's ever happened for me.

I guess it changes for each person. I need to find the person attractive to get off on it, but attractiveness comes in all sorts of different ways and all different shapes, sizes, looks etc. Its not one defined rule for me. Could be as little as the colour of and lustful look in her eyes that gets my blood pumping. A gorgeous smile etc.

I agree. The performance and the passion of the pornstars and their partners are more important to me than how attractive they are. I like to see lots of arousal and emotion from them. And if I find myself living vicariously through their passion, it's better yet.

My tastes have broadened continuously since puberty.
I used to have a very definite 'type'. Playboy centerfold. Young, slim, pretty, busty.
As I discovered porn, I found that a woman's skills and attitude and passion were as important as her looks to me. I began to find older women to be sexy. And they didn't have to be so slim.
And as the years have gone by, I have found that depending on what she is doing and/or saying, I find many different 'types' to be 'my type'.
This morning I got off while looking at porn of BBW women with big tits sucking and fucking.

My tastes are probably outside the norm. I watch porn a few times a week. The women I look for are older and larger than the average female performer. I look for women in their 40s, 50s, or 60s. I like to watch women who range from just on the chubby side all the way to plus-sized, but not quite SSBBW. Female bodies that look lived-in, rather than fresh from the factory. I prefer them to have a definite pear-shape, with a big butt, a waistline, and natural breasts. Big natural breasts are preferred, but small naturals are preferable to any surgically enhanced. (Ava Adams is the exception some of these specs). A pretty face is nice, but not necessary. I prefer amateur, but I will not watch low-res homemade videos. The sweet spot seems to be amateurish women auditioning for professional productions.

When I'm watching porn, I specifically search for females who don't have your typical porn star look. I seek women who have an innocent look, or are more "plain". I love natural bodies with thickness and confidence in the woman. It's a look of "normalcy" in a woman performing unspeakable acts that interests me in porn. And if I'm feeling gay/bisexual men, I seek masculine (often hairy and/or muscular) men. Clean cut, smooth, twink-types don't really excite me much. I just like seeing normal-looking people getting weird.
