There is a child crying in my neighborhood which breaks my heart. I generally need to find out what is going on to warrant that.

A dog has now chimed in and he's crying so I have to be nosy and look out the window - make sure everybody's good.

I’m always walking around and doing that sort of thing, though almost always with animals, not children these days. Usually, I think, they just want a walk or a little love. But I’m convinced my neighbor’s tiny Pekinese thinks she is the queen of all she surveys. And there’s no making her happy.

Thinking about walking down to the store today to the Subway franchise to get a cup of lemonade and walking next door for beer and cigarettes. I hate that this franchise is there and replaced the far better diner that used to be there. I find the food inedible. But I’m impressed by the quality of young employees they have. I make a point of knowing the names of the people who serve me, and when they see me coming they know what I want. It just feels like being part of a community.
