Joe Walsh announces Republican challenge to Trump

Will anyone else take up the challenge?

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) on Sunday announced he would mount a primary challenge to President Trump.

The conservative radio host unveiled his campaign on ABC's "This Week."

"We've got a guy in the White House who is unfit, completely unfit to be president, and it stuns me that nobody stepped up, nobody in the Republican Party stepped up, because I'll tell you what, George, everybody believes in the Republican party, everybody believes that he's unfit," Walsh told ABC's George Stephanopoulos. "He lies every time he opens his mouth."

Walsh was elected to the House in 2010 as part of the Tea Party wave and served one term. He began as a strong supporter of President Trump but over the past year has emerged as a fierce critic of the president. On Sunday, he apologized for tweets Stephanopoulos described as racist and sexist as well as his "personal" criticism of former President Obama, acknowledging the role it played in creating today's politics.

"I helped create Trump. There's not doubt about that. The personal, ugly politics," he said. "I regret that. And I'm sorry for that. And now we've got a guy in the White House, that's all he does."
When asked about Trump's high approval rating among Republicans, Walsh said GOP voters had no alternative, adding that many of his former colleagues in the House feel the same way.

"I'm running because he's unfit. Somebody needs to step up, and there needs to be an alternative," Walsh said. "The country is sick of this guy's tantrum. He's a child. Again, the litany. He lies every time he opens his mouth. Look at what's happened this week. The president of the United States is tweeting us into a recession."

After being asked about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office, he added, "We've never had a situation like this. ... You can't believe a word he says. He's nuts. He's erratic. He's cruel. He stokes bigotry. He's incompetent. He doesn't know what he's doing. George, he's a narcissist. The only thing he cares about is Trump."

Well Trumpski will be in even more clickbait News now!:D

The road not taken: Another FBI failure involving the Clintons surfaces

August in Washington can be the political equivalent of an elephant graveyard: One good rain can wash away the dirt and expose the bones of scandals past.

And this August did not disappoint. Thanks to the relentless investigative work of Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), we are learning that the Hillary Clinton email case may not really be settled.

A staff memo updating the two senators’ long-running probe discloses that the FBI — the version run in 2016 by the now-disgraced and fired James Comey, Andrew McCabe and Peter Strzok — failed to pursue access to “highly classified” evidence that could have resolved important questions.

So the FBI’s chief lawyer originally thought Clinton should be indicted, and the bureau wrote a draft supporting the felony standard, but then walked back its decision. And agents focused more on unsubstantiated Trump collusion than Clinton emails in what the IG feared might be a sign of bias.

And now we learn the FBI willfully chose to ignore highly classified evidence in the Clinton email case and has stonewalled Congress for a year on whether it intends to reexamine that evidence.

It’s exactly that sort of behavior that leaves many Americans wondering whether there are two systems of justice inside the FBI — one for the Clintons, and one for the rest of the country.

If , as it appears, that there is a contested primary against Trump, you can bet it will be a massive mud slinging contest. With cute nicknames and lots of sexual innuendos! Maybe someone will fuck Stephen Miller!

:D:D:D

Dems will benefit from Joe Walsh acting like a ‘Rottweiler biting Trump’s corpulent ass’: columnist

In his column for the Daily Beast, longtime political commentator Michael Tomasky admitted that former GOP lawmaker Joe Walsh stands no chance of unseating Donald Trump as the Republican party’s 2020 presidential candidate — but that his upstart campaign may drive a wedge between the president and wavering GOP voters.

As Tomasky explains it, “On the one hand, Walsh is obviously not going to win the Republican nomination for president. He served a mere one term in Congress. He may not raise much money and thus may not be able to run anything like a conventional campaign.”

“More recently, he [Walsh] has been a Rottweiler biting Trump’s corpulent ass,” he wrote. “I’m sure you’ve seen some of his tweets over the years. They’re vicious. So the guy ain’t afraid. And though he’s a pretty rabid right-winger, most of his tweets about Trump read as if they could have been written by anybody with politics more like mine—they’re almost entirely about what a lying, unprincipled hulk of condemned meat Trump is.”

Noting Walsh “has a large Twitter following (207,000) and a nationally syndicated radio show,” Tomasky said he could make a difference by inflicting additional damage on Trump from the right as Democrats slam the president from the left.

Quoting Walsh saying of Trump, “I’m running because he’s unfit; somebody needs to step up and there needs to be an alternative. The country is sick of this guy’s tantrum—he’s a child,” the liberal columnist speculated some conservative voters likely agree.

Walsh doesn't need to win the Presidency, he just needs to sink Trump's chances.:D

GOP facing a ‘political tsunami’ in 2020 if they don’t dump Trump now: Morning Joe panel

A “Morning Joe” interview with former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) — nnounced a primary challenge against President Donald Trump — turned into a discussion on the Republican party’s prospects in 2020 if the increasingly unpopular Trump remains at the top of the ticket.

With underdog Walsh making his pitch to unseat Trump as the GOP’s nominee, saying, “He’s unqualified, he is unfit, he’s a child, he’s reckless, he’s erratic, he’s a narcissist, he’s mean, he’s cruel and he lies every time he opens his mouth,” he then made the case that GOP is in big trouble.

“If he’s our nominee in 2020, the Republican Party is going to get spanked because young people don’t like Trump, women don’t like Trump and people who live in the suburbs don’t like Trump,” Walsh explained. “I heard you earlier, Joe, the Republican Party right now is at a real crossroads and because of Trump they’re in trouble.”

“Yeah, big trouble and you can look at his numbers and you can look at the numbers in a lot of Senate races,” Scarborough stated before turning to former RNC head Michael Steele.

“You have run the Republican Party before and it’s looking like another political tsunami is coming the Republican Party’s way if Donald Trump is at the top of the ticket,” he prompted.

“Yeah, it will be very hard for the president to sustain the races beneath the presidential campaign,” Steele conceded. “The House with a deficit of 30 some seats, with retirements now on top of that. The Senate, while a lot of people don’t believe it’s in play, with the right alignment on the Democratic side that could change.”

As evidenced by their representatives here on this board, the AmeriKKKaners will follow Donny off the cliff and take the US with them.

And they'll go to their graves believing they helped make America great again.

Are there republican women?! I mean... That are allowed out of the kitchen, allowed lives of their own?

Oh, there are. I believe there are thirteen of them in the House of Representatives.

Thirteen.

Out of 435.

How many are in? I only know of one, possibly two, but I saw a headline earlier that there will be several.

‘Obviously in mental decline’: Anthony Scaramucci predicts Trump will drop out of 2020 race

Anthony Scaramucci doesn’t think President Donald Trump will make it to the next election.

The former White House communications director turned Trump critic appeared on CNN’s “New Day,” where he said the president showed clear signs of mental decline — and he wondered why his aides weren’t doing anything about it.

“If you look at a whole pattern of speech and deterioration of his syntax — I’m not a psychologist so I’m not going to clinically evaluate him — (but) as a person, as a voter, you’re saying the guy is obviously in mental decline,” Scaramucci said. “What I find sad and troubling, is there’s a group of people around him that are loyal and like him, they’re not addressing him. CNN is showing a clip like that, which is incredibly embarrassing.”

“Here’s what I would say, if it was my dad or a family member, and you were showing clips like that, there’s a little bit of sadness to the whole thing,” he added. “There’s an element of sadness to the whole thing, and for me, too, I’m looking at that, the guy is obviously in mental decline.”

“It’s not clear to me that he’s going to make it,” Scaramucci said. “I still predict that poll numbers are going to go much lower, and I predict that, like Lyndon Johnson, before he gets there.”

“He’s going to continue to disassemble, he’s going to amp up the bullying and the nastiness and it’s going to turn off at least another 10 percent of his base,” Scaramucci added, “and then it’s basically over.”

Oh Mooch, don't get my hopes up!:)

As much as I'd like that to happen, I don't buy it. He's much too fond of the spotlight and the adoration from his hardcore base, which isn't going to abandon him. (I do think he's probably right about alienating some of his less fervent supporters, something he absolutely can't afford.)

Wonder where the GOP got the idea of restricting ballot contenders?

Russia's Opposition, Barred From Moscow Vote, Looks Elsewhere for Gains
Wall Street Journal|6 hours ago
MOSCOW—Targeted by police and barred from the ballot in Moscow's city elections, Russia's opposition is trying to gain a political foothold in other municipal races Sunday as it rides a rising wave of dissent against President Vladimir Putin.

First the DNC, now the RNC. What is it with the political Establishment and hating on democracy, anyway?

Joe Walsh is joke. It's unlikely he'll get above 5% in any poll, despite the Media's attempt to prop him up.

Unity is important, and states have the right to manage their own primary contests. That's....fair.

Unlike the DNC...which is right now...doing it's best to make sure Tulsi Gabbard doesn't make it anywhere near a debate stage. Especially after she single-handedly made Kamala Harris disappear.

At this point....Trump sails to a re-election. Seriously...without a recession it's not even close.

He's underwater in every single swing state, and recession isn't far off, what with the trade war and all.

I agree about Tulsi, though. She single-handedly clean Kamala's clock and buried her chances. The country owes her a debt. Too bad someone else didn't fall on a sword to stop Trump back in 2015.

Neither party has clean hands. Trump is desperate to avoid a primary fight with Walsh, because Walsh fights dirty and is more intelligent. He's a real asswipe, but he's smarter.
