Hi all, as a newbie I put my toe in the water with due deference, but I do need some coffee - happy to help wash up.

My signature has a link to my stories, been enjoying here, and nice to meet you all.

Pix :)

Welcome to the coffee shop! The virtual mess is a snap to clean up.

Welcome Pix. Don't think TxRad has made a pot yet today, so if you want some coffee you'll have to brew it yourself.

Anyway, nice to meet you. I'm sure you'll fit right in among the regulars.

My office was broken into overnight, as were all the occupied offices on the top floor of this building. They rifled through files, moved an old bottle of hydrochloric acid, tore into some un-mailed mail, but didn't seem to find anything they wanted (probably cash).

Now I'm sitting here waiting to get the all-clear from the police so we can start cleaning up.

That sounds like more fun than you know what to do with. Commiserations.

Have you considered setting rat traps? Or I've got an old #3 coyote trap around somewhere you're welcome to try. I understand anything more lethal is generally frowned on.

So Pix, I was looking at your submission page... Quite a list in just two months and a lot of red Hs too. Impressive. Meanwhile I have only one story to my name, submitted in that same timespan. Whelp, guess that's a good motivator for me to get back to writing, hahaha. Just crossed the 2.5k mark on my second story, which I'm estimating is about the halfway point. Knowing me it might very well end up longer, though...

Thank you kindly :)

I do hope it helps motivate you - sometimes it just comes, so to say

There are a few areas in which I agree with Sharia Law. The consequences for theft is one of them.

Okay, okay, I almost forgot I had a doctors appointment at the VA this morning. I was three minutes late but the Vanpires only needed a half gallon of blood instead of the usual gallon.

Saw the doctor a while later. I gained five pounds and my A1C was up .7. Stress eating among other things has that raised but the new doc raised one of my meds and I have to go back in three months instead of six.

The last appointment three hours later was the fun one. The nurse dilated my eyes before she asked if I had anyone to drive me home. Bright sun, bright sun, bright sun and a fun 50 mile drive home with bad vision and very dark glasses.

I was hoping a cop would stop me so I could ask him if the blind guy should be driving.

Welcome to our newest member Pixie. Cleanup is always welcome. Making coffee works also when I'm missing, uh, out and about.

There are no critters in the basement. A few subs and a slave or two, but... All with the nerve are welcome.

Welcome to the AH and enjoy 😊

Hi Pixie. :)

Sorry to hear about your office, NW. Sounds like they made a big mess.

It always makes me happy when the blood suckers take less than usual. Sometimes the seemingly small things bring great joy. The last time, they didn't take much, so I suspect the next time they will take every drop I have.

I hate dilation. Many a time I have sat in the office after my appointment waiting to get to the point where I can see well enough to make it to the car, and then sat in the car waiting until I can open my eyes in the sunlight to drive home.

I am tired of the heat. One would think I lived in the desert instead of the mountains. This summer has been hot, almost every day over 90 and we have had maybe an inch of rain if that much and it was at the beginning of August. All the monsoon rains have stayed to the east of us. Last August it rained a little almost every day and kept the temps down. sigh. Even the cottonwood looks hot and droopy.

It could have been a lot worse. They broke a window in the door to get in then didn't seem to know what they were there for. Things got thrown around, but nothing was taken. The landlord had the glass cleaned up and the office secured before I left work.

I'm feeling that, too. Temperatures have been over 90 every day, while the "normal" high has been below 90 since mid-July. We've had some of the monsoon rains, but we're still at < 50% of normal rainfall for the month. That isn't saying that much, since one moderate thunderstorm could put us back over normal.

Hi all, as a newbie I put my toe in the water with due deference.

I have read one of your stories. Grammatical, coherent, well punctuated and spelling is solid. And a good story - so a great start. 17 submissions in one month is impressive but not perhaps a good idea in one respect because you are possibly your own main competition for readers attention - especially as they are all in the same category. That said, the readers so far clearly like what they have seen. :)

And go easy on the "due deference" - the natives are not used to it.:D

Giggles - thanks - at the moment the Muse is working ... it must be the coffee x:rose:
