I did sign up at a popular one following my divorce. Reason being, my daughter said her dad, my ex was on there. We both wanted to see what kind of lies he was telling on his profile. He lied about pretty much everything. Alas, I could not just view the profiles. It forced me to get an account. I did, but put just minimal information, then deleted the account after looking at all the male profiles in this area. He was not listed for me to see. Perhaps he blocked me. But there was not one person there who looked remotely normal, just going by their profile pics. Most looked deranged.
Heard a story last week of a local woman who signed up for one. Had one date. The guy was a criminal and was arrested on their date. Next guy took her to Denny's, then on the way out, started driving like a bat out of hell. Police began chasing him. He jumped out of the car, was injured but was caught by the police. He had a criminal history too. The poor woman was left alone in the moving vehicle which luckily she was able to take command of and get it stopped without getting injured. Yikes!
Last night I looked at a website with the word "silver" in it. They keep sending me emails. It's for people age 50 and up but it said there might be a few 30-40 year olds that were looking for older people. Once again, I could not view the profiles without signing up.
I read reviews of this site. Got 5 stars for things like ease of use and website layout but only 2.5 for meeting people. Not only did you have to pay for use, you could not message people unless you paid for the most expensive plan. You could sign up for a 3 month plan at close to $30 per month but it didn't allow you to message people. You could just put emoticons such as a smiley face next to their profile. I suppose the intent would be to suck the other person into paying for an upgrade. Gee... I got a smiley face! I'll pay more so I can contact her!
Anyway... Such a service seems to me to be as big waste of time and no way would I pay for it. If they're going to charge, they should at least do background checks on these people.
Thoughts?
