The Isolated Blurt Thread XXIX : So Stupid

I'm...not so sure you wanna be sitting inside that during a torrential rain shower.

Before the structure is attempted, some knowledge and skills will be required. Particularly, she'll need to learn "Secrets of Eskimo Skin Sewing" and prticularly, the stitches required to make waterproof mukluks or skin boats. Then, it's just a matter of procurement, curing, and assembly.

I'll take your word on that.

The idea that you've thought this through worries me.

Some Climate Humor For The Week
by Francis Menton (a/k/a "Manhattan Contrarian")

"...last week Google held a “climate summit,” or something like that, outside Palermo in Sicily. There were about 300 attendees. This being a top-level Google conference, the attendees were not nobody. It was a who’s who of the wealthiest and most powerful people who have sought to make themselves high priests and priestesses of the climate cult; people like Woody Harrelson, Diane von Furstenberg, David Geffen, Chris Martin, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sacha Baron Cohen, Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Prince Harry, etc., etc., etc. And how did they get to this exotic location? From [Rex] Murphy:

How did this coven of illuminati get to Sicily? . . . Official count of the private jets wafting into Palermo air for the “great consult” stands at 114. This for a maximum 300 people attending — three persons per jet.

{But] not all came from the carbon-rich sky. Some came by personal super-yacht. Eric Smidt, CEO of something called Harbor Freight Tools, came on a 69-metre luxury barge Intrepid (US$150 million); a New Zealand tycoon cleaved the Mediterranean on Andromeda ($US165 million); and David Geffen floated in on Rising Sun ($US400 million). . . ."

lots more (including Australia's auto electricity recharging station powered by [you guessed it] a diesel generator !!) ...

Every single day I contemplate the day’s attire on how to be less sweltering. Dresses, dresses, dresses...sandals. No arm pits allowed. Every single day I wilt in the heat that is 20 degrees hotter than outside. Is there an OSHA standard for workplaces?

Engineer that.

ASHRAE 62.1 would be a place to start.

OSHA only has recommendations.

"Employees who work in traditional office environments have a lower risk of indoor heat exposure, and although there is no standard related to indoor office temperature, the OSHA technical manual recommends employers maintain workplace temperatures in the range of 68-76 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity control in the range of 20 to 60 percent. According to an OSHA interpretation letter, "office temperature and humidity conditions are generally a matter of human comfort rather than hazards that could cause death or serious physical harm. OSHA cannot cite the General Duty Clause for personal discomfort." "

20°F above outdoor ambient would be in the mid 90's or so. Intolerable, if you ask me.

Look through the company safety plan and see what the Heat Stress SDS says.

LOL. Company safety plan. I do not work in an office. Heaters come on throughout the day. It’ll be 75ish today outside. Higher than norm humidity inside at all times. Big, southern facing picture windows right next to me. Plants grow gloriously! I’ve alwsys thought a nice, small lemon tree would be good.

Indoor climate continues to change. . . .

Consider asking your fellow employees to breathe shallowly, and also to avoid flatulence.

I wanna wear cut offs and a tank top.

I approve of your idea to go commando in Daisy Dukes and braless in a thin, clingy tank top.

How skanky for workplace.

Arm pits!

I’m contemplating thin Mormon underwear to replace the undies and slip.
