Okay, which one of you "Anonymous" fucknuts keeps posting shit reviews on my story?

It's the story in the signature.

Yep, same goddamn comment twice -- the second inane one after I already addressed the first inane one.

Let it be henceforth carved into stone:
(1) The category is "Incest/Taboo," and a grown man breastfeeding a lactating woman is certainly that.
(2) While there is no incest outright depicted in the story, (a) the two main characters roleplay a mother-son relationship, and (b) no one said the incest couldn't be thematic, or sub- or unconscious.

Is this really why my story -- the best I've written so far -- is getting significantly worse ratings than the two crummy ones I submitted five years ago?!

A large number of readers of Incest/Taboo only see the "Incest" category just like a large number of readers will say they don't think the satire posted to the Humor/Satire category is funny.

That's not likely to change and very few who are not seeing the entire category are reading the discussion board.

Just delete the comments as not relevant to your story.

I'm not sure why you are posting this here and assuming somebody from the Author's Forum is responsible for the comments or votes. That probably is not true.

I've written quite a few incest stories and my impression is that incest readers are fairly picky and many insist that it be real incest. You can disagree with them, but you can't make them go away.

Just delete the comments.

Yes, delete comments, and welcome to the world of category uncertainty.

Your story would have run better in Fetish, probably. You could submit it as an EDIT and ask Laurel for a category change, that would avoid future grief.

Agree with the above: generally only other writers visit the AH, and as far as I've seen they tend to not usually leave anonymous comments on your story. The majority of the site's readers don't even visit the forum, let alone this part of it.

Okay, I guess I got a bunch of 1-bombs and an anonymous comment recently that had to come from other people here, but... That seemed to be an exception, not the rule.

Yup. Delete.

I don’t delete lightly; negative comments are fine, so long as they’re thoughtful. But trolling? Nah. Life’s too short.

A couple of points for your consideration.

First, I agree with everything above. You are, in other words, preaching to the choir.

Secondly, and I have to constantly remind myself of this, trolls are the price of success. Lukewarm writing draws little fire. Sadly, every successful writer here has his or her own claque of basement-dwellers.

Lastly, and I say this in a friendly way, your blazing public blast at the thudwit who’s been flaming you has now told him he’s succeeding in his purpose, which is to cause you angst. Not a good tactic. Fire begets further fire.

Just delete and move on.

To underscore what TarnishedPenny said, it's better not to take the bait when the trolls rise. Getting a reaction is what they thrive on, and you are likely to provoke more nasty activity by calling attention to it.

Best strategy: delete, don't respond, move on.

Or write a story especially for the trolls. But when you do, and you write them a nice long one, they don’t even rise to the bait. Oh well 😔

I write lots of incest stories, and have seen my fair share of trolls.
I wear their rude and usually irrelevant comments like a badge of honor.
In order for trolling to be effective, it has to be inflammatory. If your story really sucks, saying so isn't terribly inflammatory.
If your work were not worthy, a good troll would not waste his time.

Judging by the early voting, you found them just fine. They just got swept away.

Maybe you should work "White Wedding" into the backstory - as bait - if you ever do a follow-on troll hunting story.

Yeah. Captain Dipshit (or one of his clones) actually posted six spam "not incest" comments to the Taboo story, and one copy to each of the others (including three non-I/T stories and one with no previous comments at all).

I decided not to bother deleting them. Keep it up, friend -- I welcome feedback, and the exposure doesn't hurt either! ;)

Ask Laurel for a sweep of your story. I had one at 3.57 that went up to 4.52 and a red H after a sweep.

I just read your story. It's nicely written, and it's one of the few stories I've read that switches between past and present tense in an effective way. I would have been interested in seeing it go on longer and more fully playing out the relationship between the narrator and his lover. I was curious about where it might go, but it just ended. That's not really a criticism. I think there's a place for short stories about sexual incidents that don't necessarily lead to complicated developments or plot twists, and yours was effective as such a story.

I never downgrade a story merely because I think the story has been put in the wrong category; I think that's wrong and unfair to the author. That said, you are exposing yourself to the risk of doing that if the story doesn't fit the category. Your story definitely is not an incest story. That the woman refers to herself as "mommy" doesn't make it an incest story for the reader. It belongs in fetish, where it is now. It's a very fetishy story and that's where it should be.

Those comments by anonymous are obnoxious. I'd probably delete them.

Do not expect rational comments and you will not be disappointed.

Don’t complain

Complaining on here will attract the attention of more trolls who will search out your stories and 1-bomb them. Best to keep quiet and delete any comments that annoy you. Alternatively start writing under another name and don’t complain in public.

Did you change the category? Because it's in Fetish, not incest so I'm not sure why people would be expecting incest.

I didn't read the story though, incest or fetish lactating moms neither one interest me.

Meh. Trolls eat their own.

Recently published a story where the sex was implied rather than "in your face". Didn't get great numbers (hanging in around 4.2). What I found amusing was that I got a "You know this is an erotic literature websites" type comment which was followed by a "It's still sex even if its your imagination" comment.

I presume there was an implied "lack of" lurking somewhere near the word imagination.

The category was changed. It started out in Incest, and was moved to Fetish.
