How long does it take to have a EDITED story published after editing.
I have been waiting for three days.

Give everything a week.

If it shows up sooner, so be it.

In my case, it was about a week as well. Edited parts take a lower priority I read somewhere on the board, which makes sense.

I took the embarrassment of waiting for my glaring errors to be fixed as my punishment for not catching them in the first place.

On the other hand, editing your posts takes effect immediately.

That 8-day wait is still 12. I suspect the real issue is I requested the category be changed.

I'm considering just submitting it again, as if it were a new story in the second category. It might be faster than moving it as an edit.

I edited once. It took about ten days.

I wouldn’t bother doing it again unless the mistake was EXTREMELY egregious.

Re-submitting a story puts it back into Laurel's queue and she will see it. Don't treat it as a new submission, though, process it as an EDIT with a note asking for the category change.

Sending PM's, she might see it but there's less of a guarantee that action will follow.

Note - Laurel is final arbiter on category, but most sensible requests will go through. She's got pretty good at knowing the best category, but most change requests are where the author got it wrong first up.
