I have a habit of checking out women's ankles to see if they happen to be wearing an anklet. Only have seen one and that was in a department store. I would like to think I would have the courage to say something about it or ask the woman about it if I find another.
Anybody ever experience this or had the opportunity to ask about it to the wearer?

Ever since I found out about the hot wives anklets, I immediately started looking more often. I used to look at the left hand for a wedding ring first, but now I look for the anklet and THEN the wedding ring!

They can symbolize the hotwife lifestyle, but many women wear them for fun. Especially the hippy chicks!

As soon the winter coats are shed and the sundresses and shorts start to appear, I keep a keen eye open for anklets. It is pretty easy, for the most part, to discern those who are in the "know".
I was in the grocery store yesterday and spotted one. She was wearing a fashionable sundress, nice shoes and the silver anklet. The sundress was revealing enough to clearly tell that she sunbathes topless (at a minimum). Her tan was a dark enough that I suspect they may have just returned from a resort. Her husband seemed to walk behind her. If they hadn't been moving so quickly through the store, I would have complimented her on her anklet right in front of her husband. If she had responded, I might have asked if he was caged.

There is no general symbolism. The vast majority of women that wear them, do so only as another piece of jewelry unaware of any other meaning.

Those in the lifestyle that do use them that way usually have something in the way of charms or initials, but that doesn't mean that all dangling things mean anything either.

I agree with jaF0. It doesn't necessarily mean anything. My 78 year old mother wears anklets, and I'm pretty sure she is as straitlaced as they come.

They can be sexy, though.
