Darn, there goes my Nobel prize idea.Alpha waves aren’t when you dream, though. Not to quibble, but alpha waves are at the very start of sleep.
Those must be some great peaches!

Anyway, this sounded really interesting so I had to read it, but I was busy so it took me a few days. Have to say, I'm impressed by your story, it was very well written. Totally crushed my hopes of winning the contest, hahaha. Not that I'd thought I had a chance before anyway, but still. Nicely done, I'll definitely be checking out some of your other stories at some point when I have the time.
Congratulations on that success! Thanks. I just reread it myself for the first time and, of course, I found a couple editing problems that the early readers didn't point out.
Watch Me! probably has no chance of winning the contest. I won't be in your way. Despite that, it's been a very positive experience. The story is now my personal best in favorites, views and comments. It also got me favorited more than any other story, and it may become my first story with more than 100k views. Watch Me! also produced quite a few views on some of my other stories, and the rating on those ticked (mostly) up.
My story was the 23rd Lit story named "Watch Me." The name wasn't so creative.
Congratulations on that success!
How did you find it was the 23rd? The URL puts it at 21 (so it'd be the 22nd if the original has no number, and the next one started at 1).
My daughter and I went to "The Peach Tour" today. They sell fresh Georgia peaches. Drove up to see a line of people waiting. Some of them bought several boxes, each holding 1/2 bushel. Now I'm searching for recipes to try this week.
I love that imagery: a peach being like a summer sun you can carry into winter.I can maybe a bushel every year. A lot of work, but it makes summer last all through winter.

Also, the emoji.
Fresh coffee for an early Moanday morning. There is a bag or two of mini donuts on the counter. Rake a few donuts and not a whole bag, please. I ain't going to call no names but I might use some initials.
Indeed. Theta waves on the other hand are associated with creativity, insight, dreams and deep meditation. It'd make sense you get a lot of creative ideas when your brain is basically running in VR-mode, constructing entire worlds and events around you. Although I believe that for lucid dreaming you suddenly propel up through the waves again, reaching beta or even gamma while still being asleep. Has been a while since I read up on it though, so don't quote me on that.
Ha!Brainwaves and peaches? I think I'm going to leave both of those alone before I embarrass myself.![]()
So sweet of you! Now, this is why you win contests!
Was it really 1982?! Has it evolved any new species?1982! Maybe I'll have a donut after all.
NW, I was thinking that if you had called your story "Watch Meons!", I'm pretty sure you'd be the only one.
Any time now, I suspect we are going to get Wet.
That could have such a different connotation if you were a woman.
Ah yes, there is wet and then there is wet.
I have a batch of beans in the croak-pot and cornbread in the oven. I'll be dangerous tomorrow but well fed tonight.
Ah, I get a similar effect, I reckon
But it's time for a coffee in the gloom of a depressing morning.
Well if you want to feel less gloomy, my White Wedding story is up and taking fire in Loving Wives. 1.8 on 15 votes so hey, it’s doing what it was expected too. But it’s funnyI hope. I loved writing it. Now back to sleep for a while
