The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 04: Come On In

It's smokey here because of a wildfire in the next state over. That aside, this should be another warm, full-sun day with a little breeze to make it feel better.

I'm nearing the finish line on the Nude Day story I've been writing since March, but instead of finishing it, I have to spend the morning at a meeting were I believe we will discuss arcane technical aspects of the sound of one hand clapping, and trees falling in the woods.

Happy Friday Nooner, one and all.

Ah yes, the sound of one hand spanking, uh, clapping. An interesting topic. Trees falling in the woods, rates right up there with bears shitting in the woods for opposing opinions. :D

HM & HG are headed back to her mother's house on Sunday, I do believe.

I guess it's too late for TP's morale-booster.

I'd like to know why it takes a L o o n n g time for varnish to dry. The wooden object is in the garage, where it's warm, and hung clear of anything. Perhaps the varnish is going off ?

Meanwhile , coffee please.

PS. You may remember the bruhaha about 'age verification' here in the UK.
Well, I don't think it's going to happen too soon:-

Vanish that take a very long time to dry is usually put on too thick and it doesn't have enough thinner to evaporate properly. Two thin coats of varnish with a light sanding between coats protects much better than one thick coat. There are several types of varnish that also effect the drying time. If the varnish is going over a stain, then the type of stain needs to be figured in.

There are so many better products than varnish these days.

Fresh coffee for the evening crew.

Supper will be, uh, leftovers. Lots of leftovers. :D

I don't think I've used real varnish in a hundred years. Wait, I'm not that old. Close to fifty years.

I've been using urethanes. The water-based kind is even easy to use. What else is there?

Fireworks season is upon me. They're going off like small arms and grenades (no mortars yet).

I'll probably never understand an adult fascination with things that go "bang." Kids, sure.

I guess I'm just a big kid, then. One of the things I miss most about living in a major (and very firearms-adverse) city is the ease of going target shooting I had as a kid. We had a pretty good backstop for everything up to 100 yards set up against a cut bank, and my uncle and cousins would often join us.

And although I'm responsible enough to worry about fire danger, I *still* love fireworks. One of the high points of a trip to Taiwan with my wife and her family a few years ago was visiting a village that specializes in selling fireworks to tourists. I'm pretty certain that some of the things that we shot off that night aren't legal *anywhere* in the US.

It probably says something bad about both my mind and my expectations for this site, but at first glance I though you said "urethras" - and I started speculating about how to fit *that* into a story.

Most urethane are moderate length polyamory plastics so they are not very water proof and sunlight has a tendency to break them down. I also wouldn't recommend you paint your dick with them. The solvents used to thin and liquefy them would pretty much burn the skin right off you dick. :D

Late night or early morning coffee now available

None for me. A shower and bed are calling my name.

Wrote 6k words for my nude day story, drank one large pot of coffee and now it’s breakfast, packing, taekwondo, swimming and more packing and then some more writing tonite. A nice relaxing Saturday😳

The stuff I'm using is fairly old, been in the shed a while but is still liquid.
I didn't know about the stain; I'd better look that up.

.

The gadget will be operated indoors, so there should be little problem.

Thank you kindly.
And now for a coffee.

6k words before breakfast? And here I was feeling good because I got 2k words further in a couple of hours last night, and figured out a better way to end the first major section.

You have to realise that Chloe is Something Rather Special.
But it's time for a coffee. . .

Haha it’s always time for coffee and I was wide awake at 2am so I got up and just wrote... on a roll and fingers flying. Packed about twenty boxes, spent an hour at taekwondo, going swimming now coz it’s just beautiful. 32 and sunny.....

We left early this morning and went out to the state park. Swimming, bank fishing, sunshine, hot dogs over an open fire for lunch. The ladies are napping and I'm getting the shrimp ready for supper.

I also cleaned the dozen catfish we caught. HG flashed half the park landing one of the larger cats. A major bikini top malfunction. Actually, more like a big tit and small bikini. It was the first big catfish she had ever landed and it was stronger than she expected.

Fresh coffee for the afternoon crowd.

I hear that Boeing want to stop doing real physical tests, and do them via simulations.
I hope this gets rejected by the authorities.

And the varnish is properly dry !

Meanwhile, Tea, I think.

The authorities want Boeing to train pilots in simulators and Boeing wants to do it with a flying program on the pilots phones.

Fresh coffee for the evening crowd.

Supper was a wrap with shrimp, a ginger and honey sauce, snow peas, small whole mushrooms, thumb sized potatoes, and spinach. I think I outdid myself. I'm stuffed and so are everyone else.

Some things have been done that way for a while now. Nuclear weapons "testing," for instance. The technology is pretty advanced, and getting more advanced all the time.

When I get to it, dinner will be a 1/3 pound hamburger with American cheese, bacon, tomato and avocado on a toasted bun, with roasted potatoes to go with it.

I spent much of the day "finalizing" the end of my Nude Day story and doing a "final" editing pass. The story will be named "Watch Me!" instead of "Transcendent." I have no clue how this story will go over. All the references to "final" are quoted because in my last pass I felt like there was some stilted language near the beginning of the story, so I'll read it again in the morning.

Chloe, I feel quite fatigued just reading that !
Time for a coffee, I think

Happy Sinday, folks!

Coconut and almond flour waffles for breakfast.

Submitted one story yesterday, editing another to submit today, and got invited to submit a story to a monster horror anthology. Slow progress.

Lots of work around the house today but writing in the back of my mind the whole time.

Supposed to be low 90s here. Not too bad, but enough we probably won’t take the hike we’d planned.

Drinking coffee now, and working out the next section of my current story. I just threw out a couple of thousand words worth of unwanted tangent and suspect I should trim more. The problem is that I sometimes fall in love with scenes that really should be left as backstory. Sometimes stories need trimming. With a machete.

I'm going to hike around the yard for awhile while I mow the lawn.

Breakfast was two eggs on toast and two sausage patties. Peaches are in season, and I'm contemplating fried peaches.
