Initially I would not have been surprised if he had simply announced that he had accomplished everything he wanted to accomplish and quit after (or even during) one term. I think the only reason he is running is because he's got a strong economy to run on so he can take a victory lap.

Interesting. You are the first person I know that is (I assume) left of center who is entertaining one of many possible realities where he does win a second term. Kind of early to assume much of anything. International incident or financial market hiccup could easily change things dramatically overnight.

I don't actually know much about your politics (which is fine) and it would be perfectly reasonable to be right of center and loathe the buffoon. I'm just guessing here.

He still has limitations to worry about. Get re-elected, or go to jail. It's a no brainer, even for him, an actual no brainer.

Well he does seem rather fond of Little Rocketman, but I think that was just art of the deal flattery nonsense.

Luk would not be aware that President Xi Jinping is a President, granted a fairly powerful president, not a dictator. Putin might as be for life, but again, lots of power, not a dictator.

Maduro is a dictator, but not a friend of Trump.

"Tenure of dictators" seems an odd circumlocution to be sure. dictators, what with being dictators and all, tend to have whatever tenure they can hold onto. One of the perquisites of being a dictator is never having to give a concession speech.

Speaking of did Hillary ever actually voice a concession speech? I do remember her being terribly concerned that Trump and his supporters might not accept the outcome of the election if it didn't go his way.
